呼和浩特职业技术大学办学历史肇始于1907年的绥远中学堂附设简易师范科，是呼和浩特地区师范教育之始。学校于1922年、1954年先后更名为绥远师范学校、呼和浩特市师范学校，1977年恢复高考后开始招收普通师范大专生。2000年，呼和浩特师范学校并入呼和浩特教育学院；2002年，由呼和浩特教育学院、呼和浩特管理干部学院、呼和浩特职工大学、呼和浩特广播电视大学四所院校合并组建呼和浩特职业学院；2004年至2006年，先后接收内蒙古广播电视大学呼和浩特铁路局分校、呼和浩特铁路成人中等专业学校、内蒙古广播电视学校、内蒙古技师培训学院；2020年，接收呼和浩特市卫生学校，完成十校合并。2025年6月，经教育部党组、内蒙古自治区人民政府研究决定，同意设立呼和浩特职业技术大学，是呼和浩特市人民政府举办的全日制高等学校。

The history of Hohhot Vocational and Technical University dates back to the Simple Normal Department attached to Suiyuan Middle School in 1907, which marked the beginning of normal education in Hohhot. The school was renamed Suiyuan Normal School and Hohhot Normal School in 1922 and 1954 respectively. After the resumption of the college entrance examination in 1977, it began to enroll ordinary normal college students. In 2000, Hohhot Normal School was merged into Hohhot Institute of Education. In 2002, Hohhot Vocational College was established by merging four institutions: Hohhot Institute of Education, Hohhot Institute of Management Cadres, Hohhot Workers' University, and Hohhot Radio and Television University. From 2004 to 2006, it successively took over the Hohhot Railway Bureau Branch of Inner Mongolia Radio and Television University, Hohhot Railway Adult Secondary Professional School, Inner Mongolia Radio and Television School, and Inner Mongolia Technician Training College. In 2020, it incorporated Hohhot Health School, completing the merger of ten schools. In June 2025, upon the research decision of the Party Group of the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Hohhot Vocational and Technical University was approved to be established, which is a full-time institution of higher education run by the Hohhot Municipal People's Government.

学校现有党政管理机构15个、教学机构15个、教辅机构4个，群团组织2个。占地面积2099.02亩，建筑面积52.19万平方米；教学科研仪器设备总值2.93亿元；纸质图书105.09万册，电子图书81.80万册。现有全日制在校生15425人；教职工1125人，其中专任教师831人，高级职称教师占比42.96%，具有硕博学位的教师占比77.38%；双师型教师占比专业课教师70%。聘请现代产业导师、行业企业一线兼职教师共计194人，是专任教师总数的23.35%；特聘外籍客座教授10人。现有教育部职业院校教学（教育）指导委员会、全国行业职业教育教学指导委员会成员11人，自治区级教学团队10个、自治区级教学名师10人、自治区级教坛新秀9人，自治区英才兴蒙工程五、六类人才10人，自治区草原英才工程高技能类专项人才1人，自治区511人才培养工程2人，自治区新世纪321人才工程第二、三层次人选8人，自治区新时代专业技术人才选拔培养项目三层次人选5人，自治区青年创新人才1人。

The university currently has 15 party and government management institutions, 15 teaching institutions, 4 teaching auxiliary institutions, and 2 mass organizations. It covers an area of 2099.02 mu with a building area of 521,900 square meters. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 293 million yuan. There are 1,050,900 paper books and 818,000 e-books. There are 15,425 full-time students and 1,125 faculty members, including 831 full-time teachers. Senior professional title teachers account for 42.96%, teachers with master's and doctoral degrees account for 77.38%, and double-qualified teachers account for 70% of professional course teachers. A total of 194 modern industry mentors and part-time teachers from the frontline of industries and enterprises are employed, accounting for 23.35% of the total number of full-time teachers. There are 10 specially-invited foreign visiting professors. There are 11 members of the Teaching (Education) Steering Committee of Vocational Colleges of the Ministry of Education and the National Industry Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee, 10 autonomous region-level teaching teams, 10 autonomous region-level teaching masters, 9 autonomous region-level teaching rookies, 10 talents of the fifth and sixth categories of the Autonomous Region's Talents Revitalizing Mongolia Project, 1 high-skilled talent of the Autonomous Region's Grassland Talents Project, 2 talents of the Autonomous Region's 511 Talent Training Project, 8 candidates for the second and third levels of the Autonomous Region's New Century 321 Talent Project, 5 candidates for the third level of the Autonomous Region's New Era Professional and Technical Talents Selection and Training Project, and 1 Autonomous Region Youth Innovation Talent.

现有招生专业52个，其中职业本科专业4个、高职专科专业48个。有汽车制造与试验技术、药品生物技术、铁道机车运用与维护等专业群9个，其中自治区级专业群2个；有国家级骨干专业4个、自治区级品牌（重点）建设专业9个、自治区级特色专业5个。实质性运行的产教融合、校企合作项目23个，相对稳定的校外顶岗实训基地43个；校内实践教学场所457个，其中理实一体化实践教学场所371个、生产性实训基地3个。2025年录取全日制学生5690人；近五年学生获省部级及以上大赛奖励360余项，其中获技能大赛、科技学术竞赛国家级奖24项。2025届毕业生去向落实率94.88%，对口率85.08%；升学学生占毕业生总人数34.51%，形成就业+升学双轨发展格局；2025年毕业生留蒙率84%、留呼率首次突破43%，成为首府技术技能人才核心供给源。

There are 52 enrollment majors, including 4 vocational undergraduate majors and 48 higher vocational college majors. There are 9 professional groups such as Automobile Manufacturing and Testing Technology, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, and Railway Locomotive Operation and Maintenance, among which 2 are autonomous region-level professional groups. There are 4 national-level key majors, 9 autonomous region-level brand (key) construction majors, and 5 autonomous region-level characteristic majors. There are 23 substantively operating industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation projects, and 43 relatively stable off-campus internship bases. There are 457 on-campus practical teaching places, including 371 integrated theory-practice teaching places and 3 productive training bases. In 2025, 5,690 full-time students were admitted. In the past five years, students have won more than 360 provincial-level and above competition awards, including 24 national awards in skill competitions and scientific and academic competitions. The employment rate of the 2025 graduates was 94.88%, and the job matching rate was 85.08%. The number of students entering higher education accounted for 34.51% of the total number of graduates, forming a dual-track development pattern of employment and further study. In 2025, the retention rate of graduates in Inner Mongolia was 84%, and the retention rate in Hohhot exceeded 43% for the first time, making it the core supply source of technical and skilled talents in the capital city.

学校与白俄罗斯维捷布斯克国立大学、白俄罗斯布列斯特国立工业大学合作举办学前教育、音乐教育、美术教育、电气自动化技术、大数据与会计、道路与桥梁工程技术6个专业学历教育项目。入选中阿高校10+10合作计划中方成员高校，被评为自治区具有较高国际化水平职业学校。

The university cooperates with Vitebsk State University of Belarus and Brest State Technical University of Belarus to offer academic education programs in 6 majors: Preschool Education, Music Education, Art Education, Electrical Automation Technology, Big Data and Accounting, and Road and Bridge Engineering Technology. It was selected as a Chinese member university of the China-Arab Universities 10+10 Cooperation Program and was rated as a vocational school with a relatively high internationalization level in the autonomous region.
