黑龙江工程学院坐落在风光秀丽的北国名城——哈尔滨市。学校始建于1952年，前身是黑龙江省交通厅所属的黑龙江交通高等专科学校和原冶金部所属的哈尔滨工程高等专科学校。2000年3月，经教育部批准，合并组建更名为黑龙江工程学院，是一所以工为主、多学科协调发展的省属全日制普通本科院校。

Heilongjiang Institute of Technology is located in Harbin, a beautiful famous city in northern China. Founded in 1952, the university evolved from Heilongjiang Traffic College (affiliated to Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Transportation) and Harbin Engineering College (affiliated to the former Ministry of Metallurgy). In March 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Heilongjiang Institute of Technology through merger, becoming a provincial full-time ordinary undergraduate university focusing on engineering with coordinated development of multiple disciplines.

学校被列为黑龙江省人民政府与国家国防科工局共建高校、教育部卓越工程师教育培养计划首批实施高校、国家发改委和教育部教育现代化推进工程应用型高校建设项目百所示范校，是全国地方普通本科高校转型发展的排头兵。现有全日制在校本科生13000余人，教职工1160余人，设有16个教学单位，54个本科专业，其中21个专业入选国家/省“双万计划”一流建设专业，7个专业通过国家工程教育认证。

The university is listed as a co-constructed university by the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, one of the first universities to implement the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" by the Ministry of Education, and a demonstration university in the "Education Modernization Promotion Project for Applied Universities" initiated by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Education. It is a pacesetter in the transformation and development of local ordinary undergraduate universities nationwide. Currently, it has over 13,000 full-time undergraduate students and more than 1,160 faculty members, with 16 teaching units and 54 undergraduate majors. Among them, 21 majors have been selected into the national/provincial "Double Ten Thousand Plan" for first-class major construction, and 7 majors have passed the national engineering education accreditation.

学校总占地面积近80万平方米，校园工程文化氛围浓厚，建有现代化教学实验楼、逸夫图书馆、工程文化博物馆等设施。坚持“明德求真、知行合一”的校训，深入实施产教融合，与行业企业共建9个行业学院，打造了教育部-中兴通讯ICT产教融合创新基地等一批高水平实训平台，被誉为“工程师的摇篮”，本科生毕业去向落实率始终位列全省本科院校前列。

Covering a total area of nearly 800,000 square meters, the campus features a strong engineering culture atmosphere with modern teaching experiment buildings, Shaw Library, Engineering Culture Museum and other facilities. Adhering to the school motto of "Virtue, Truth-seeking, Knowledge and Practice", the university deeply promotes industry-education integration, jointly establishing 9 industry colleges with enterprises, and building a number of high-level training platforms such as the Ministry of Education-ZTE ICT Industry-Education Integration Innovation Base. Known as the "Cradle of Engineers", its undergraduate employment rate has always ranked among the top of undergraduate universities in Heilongjiang Province.
