海南热带海洋学院（Hainan Tropical Ocean University）是由自然资源部、海南省人民政府、中国海洋石油集团有限公司、三亚市人民政府四方共建的全日制公办普通本科省属高校，是国务院学位委员会批准的硕士学位授予单位，海南省立项建设的博士学位授权单位，国家唯一的热带海洋大学。学校是外交部、教育部中国—东盟教育培训中心、教育部十大教育援外基地之一，上海合作组织大学中方成员院校，也是琼中琼南少数民族地区人才培养的摇篮和知识创新、社会服务、文化传承、国际交流与合作的基地。

Hainan Tropical Ocean University is a full-time public undergraduate provincial university co-founded by the Ministry of Natural Resources, the People's Government of Hainan Province, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, and the People's Government of Sanya City. It is a master's degree-granting unit approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, a doctoral degree authorization unit established in Hainan Province, and the only national tropical ocean university. The university is the China-ASEAN Education and Training Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, one of the top ten educational foreign aid bases of the Ministry of Education, a Chinese member institution of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University, and also a cradle for talent cultivation in the ethnic minority areas of Qiongzhong and Qiongnan, as well as a base for knowledge innovation, social service, cultural inheritance, international exchange and cooperation.

学校前身可追溯至1954年创办的海南黎族苗族自治州师范学校和1958年创办的海南黎族苗族自治州师范专科学校，历经多次调整与发展，2015年正式更名为海南热带海洋学院。学校拥有三亚、五指山两个校区，校园总面积2188亩，海域使用面积1600亩，设有20个二级学院，开设55个本科专业、7个专科专业，涵盖理、工、管、文、法、农、教、艺、史9大学科门类，形成了以海洋、旅游、民族、生态为特色的学科专业体系，拥有海洋科学、水产等一级学科硕士点及多个专业学位硕士点，为国家和区域发展培养了大批应用型人才。

The predecessor of the university can be traced back to Hainan Li and Miao Autonomous Prefecture Normal School founded in 1954 and Hainan Li and Miao Autonomous Prefecture Normal College founded in 1958. After many adjustments and developments, it was officially renamed Hainan Tropical Ocean University in 2015. The university has two campuses in Sanya and Wuzhishan, with a total campus area of 2188 mu and a sea area of 1600 mu. It has 20 secondary colleges, offering 55 undergraduate majors and 7 junior college majors, covering 9 disciplines including science, engineering, management, literature, law, agriculture, education, art, and history. It has formed a discipline and professional system featuring oceanography, tourism, ethnic studies, and ecology, with first-level discipline master's programs in marine science and aquatic products, as well as multiple professional degree master's programs, cultivating a large number of applied talents for national and regional development.
