河海大学是一所拥有百年办学历史，以水利为特色，工科为主，多学科协调发展的教育部直属全国重点大学，是实施国家“211工程”“985工程优势学科创新平台”建设以及国家“双一流”建设的高校。学校发源于1915年由近代著名实业家、教育家张謇创办的河海工程专门学校，是中国第一所培养水利人才的高等学府，开创了中国水利高等教育的先河。

Hohai University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education with a century-long history, featuring water conservancy, engineering as the main focus, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. It is an institution implementing the "211 Project", "985 Project Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform" and the national "Double First-Class" construction. The university originated from the Hohai Engineering College founded in 1915 by Zhang Jian, a famous modern industrialist and educator. It is the first higher education institution in China to cultivate water conservancy talents, pioneering China's higher education in water conservancy.

学校在南京、常州设有校区，总占地面积2462亩。设有水文水资源学院、水利水电学院、港口海岸与近海工程学院等31个学院（部），拥有水文与水资源工程、水利水电工程、港口航道与海岸工程等国家级一流本科专业建设点45个，国家级特色专业建设点13个。学校坚持立德树人根本任务，着力培养具有家国情怀、全球视野、创新精神和实践能力的高素质人才，已为国家培养了40余万名各类高级专门人才。

The university has campuses in Nanjing and Changzhou, covering a total area of 2462 mu. It has 31 colleges (departments) including the College of Hydrology and Water Resources, the College of Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering, and the College of Port, Coastal and Offshore Engineering. It boasts 45 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites such as Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering, Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering, Port, Waterway and Coastal Engineering, and 13 national characteristic major construction sites. Adhering to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, the university strives to cultivate high-quality talents with a sense of family and country, global vision, innovative spirit and practical ability, and has trained more than 400,000 various senior professionals for the country.
