韩山师范学院是一所历史悠久、特色鲜明的广东省属本科师范院校，位于国家历史文化名城潮州市。其前身可追溯至宋代元佑五年（1090年）为纪念韩愈而建立的韩山书院，校史从1903年创立的惠潮嘉师范学堂起算，是中国第一批、广东第一所专门培养师资的学校。学校历经多次更名与发展，1993年经国家教委批准升格为本科院校并定名韩山师范学院，形成了“勤教力学，为人师表”的校训和“爱国爱乡爱校”的家国情怀等精神特质。

Hanshan Normal University is a provincial undergraduate normal university with a long history and distinctive characteristics, located in Chaozhou, a national historical and cultural city. Its predecessor can be traced back to Hanshan Academy founded in 1090 (the fifth year of Yuanyou in the Song Dynasty) to commemorate Han Yu. The school history starts from Huichao Jia Normal School founded in 1903, which is one of the first normal schools in China and the first in Guangdong Province specializing in cultivating teachers. After several name changes and development, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college with the approval of the State Education Commission in 1993 and named Hanshan Normal University, forming the school motto of "Diligent in Teaching and Learning, Setting an Example for Others" and the spiritual characteristics such as "Patriotism, Love for Hometown and School".

学校设有17个二级学院和广东省陶瓷职业技术学校，60个本科专业，涵盖9大学科门类，以教育学科为特色优势，形成文、理、工等协调发展的学科专业结构。现有全日制在校生24000余人，教职工1600多人，具有博士学位和高级专业技术职称教师比例均达30%以上。拥有省级重点学科4个、国家级特色专业3个，与12个国家及港澳台地区的37所高校建立交流合作关系，为地方教育和经济社会发展输送了大批优秀人才，杰出校友包括国学大师饶宗颐、“中国核潜艇之父”黄旭华等。

The university has 17 secondary colleges and Guangdong Ceramic Vocational and Technical School, offering 60 undergraduate majors covering 9 disciplines. It takes education as its characteristic advantage, forming a coordinated disciplinary and professional structure of arts, science, engineering, etc. There are more than 24,000 full-time students and over 1,600 faculty members, with the proportion of teachers with doctoral degrees and senior professional titles both reaching more than 30%. It has 4 provincial key disciplines and 3 national characteristic majors, and has established exchange and cooperation relations with 37 universities in 12 countries and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions. It has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents for local education and economic and social development, with distinguished alumni including Sinology master Rao Zongyi, "Father of China's Nuclear Submarines" Huang Xuhua, etc.
