湖南科技学院是一所经教育部批准，由湖南省人民政府主办的全日制普通本科院校。学校坐落在国家历史文化名城、国家卫生城市、国家森林城市、全国森林旅游示范市、中国幸福城市20强——永州市零陵区。

Hunan University of Science and Engineering is a full-time ordinary undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the People's Government of Hunan Province. The university is located in Lingling District, Yongzhou City, which is a national historical and cultural city, a national health city, a national forest city, a national forest tourism demonstration city, and one of the top 20 happiest cities in China.

学校办学始于1941年，前身为湖南省立第七师范学校，先后经历了零陵师范学校、湖南师范学院零陵分院、零陵师范高等专科学校等发展阶段，2002年升格为本科院校——零陵学院，2004年更名为湖南科技学院，2025年获批硕士学位授予单位。学校曾连续三次荣获全国普通高等学校国家级优秀教学成果奖，其中特等奖一项、二等奖二项，是全国毕业生就业典型经验高校、湖南省大学生就业创业优秀示范校。

The university began its operation in 1941, with its predecessor being the Seventh Normal School of Hunan Province. It has gone through several development stages, including Lingling Normal School, Lingling Branch of Hunan Normal College, and Lingling Normal College. In 2002, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college named Lingling University, renamed Hunan University of Science and Engineering in 2004, and approved as a master's degree-granting unit in 2025. The university has won the National Excellent Teaching Achievement Award for ordinary institutions of higher learning three times in a row, including one special prize and two second prizes. It is a national model university for graduate employment and an excellent demonstration school for college students' employment and entrepreneurship in Hunan Province.

学校现占地面积1080亩，设有14个教学学院，拥有55个本科专业，涵盖经济学、法学、教育学、文学、理学、工学、管理学、艺术学等八大学科门类，面向全国28个省（市、区）招生，现有全日制在校学生1.8万余人。办学80余年来，培养了中国工程院院士欧阳晓平等各类人才11万余人。

Currently, the university covers an area of 1080 mu, has 14 teaching colleges, and offers 55 undergraduate majors, covering eight disciplines including economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, management, and art. It enrolls students from 28 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) across the country, with more than 18,000 full-time students. Over the past 80 years of running the school, it has cultivated more than 110,000 various talents, including Ouyang Xiaoping, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

学校现有教职工1253人，其中入选享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家、湖南省科技创新领军人才等省级以上人才百余人次。拥有4个国家级一流本科专业建设点、8门国家级一流本科课程、4个“十四五”省级应用特色学科、20个省级一流本科专业建设点，与40余所国外高校建立友好合作关系，累计招收来自20多个国家的200余名留学生。

The university has 1,253 faculty members, among whom more than 100 have been selected as experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, leading scientific and technological innovation talents in Hunan Province, and other provincial-level talents. It has 4 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 8 national first-class undergraduate courses, 4 provincial applied characteristic disciplines in the "14th Five-Year Plan", and 20 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites. It has established friendly cooperative relations with more than 40 foreign universities and has enrolled more than 200 international students from over 20 countries.
