湖南文理学院是一所由湖南省人民政府主办的全日制普通本科院校，坐落于“桃花源里的城市”——湖南省常德市。学校始于1958年创办的常德师范高等专科学校，1999年升格为本科院校并更名为常德师范学院，2003年正式定名为湖南文理学院。历经多年发展，学校先后汇集了湖南农学院常德分院、常德教育学院等多所院校的学科专业优势，形成了涵盖文、理、工、农、史、法、经、管、教、艺、医等十一大学科门类的综合性办学格局。

Hunan University of Arts and Science is a full-time public undergraduate institution sponsored by the Hunan Provincial People's Government, located in Changde City, Hunan Province, known as "the city in the land of peach blossoms". The university originated from Changde Teachers College founded in 1958, was upgraded to an undergraduate institution and renamed Changde Normal University in 1999, and officially adopted its current name in 2003. After years of development, it has integrated the disciplinary advantages of multiple institutions including the Changde Branch of Hunan Agricultural College and Changde College of Education, forming a comprehensive educational structure covering eleven disciplines such as arts, science, engineering, agriculture, history, law, economics, management, education, art, and medicine.

学校现有占地面积2000余亩，校舍建筑总面积83.74万平方米，教学科研仪器设备总值3.78亿元，图书馆藏纸质图书269万余册、电子图书近317万册。设有18个教学院、1个研究院，开设61个本科专业，拥有3个硕士专业学位授权点，全日制本科生30000余人。师资队伍中，专任教师1287人，教授125人，博士507人，拥有国家杰青、国务院政府特殊津贴专家等国家级和省部级人才90余人次，国家级教学团队1个，省级教学和科研团队12个。

The university covers an area of over 2000 mu, with a total building area of 837,400 square meters. The total value of teaching and research equipment reaches 378 million yuan, and the library houses more than 2.69 million paper books and nearly 3.17 million e-books. It comprises 18 teaching colleges, 1 research institute, offering 61 undergraduate programs and 3 professional master's degree authorization points, with over 30,000 full-time undergraduate students. The faculty includes 1,287 full-time teachers, 125 professors, and 507 doctors, including over 90 national and provincial-level talents such as National Outstanding Youth Fund recipients and experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, 1 national-level teaching team, and 12 provincial-level teaching and research teams.

作为湖南省“双一流”高水平应用特色学院，学校始终坚持立德树人根本任务，现有24个国家和省级一流本科专业建设点，70门一流本科课程，近年来获省级教学成果奖23项。依托8个国家级、100余个省部级教学科研平台，积极开展“教授博士沅澧行”活动，与500多家企业建立战略合作，在人才培养、科学研究、社会服务等方面成效显著，先后获评全国毕业生就业典型经验高校、湖南省文明标兵单位等荣誉称号，正朝着建设国内一流应用型大学的目标稳步迈进。

As a "Double First-Class" high-level application-oriented characteristic college in Hunan Province, the university adheres to the fundamental task of cultivating virtue through education.
