内蒙古科技大学坐落在首批全国文明城市、美丽的草原钢城——包头，前身为1956年建校的包头钢铁工业学校和包头建筑工程学校，隶属原冶金工业部，1998年划归内蒙古自治区管理，2003年更名为内蒙古科技大学。经过60余年的建设与发展，学校已成为以冶金、材料、矿业、机械为特色，工、理、文、管、经、法、艺术、教育等学科协调发展，集研究生教育、本科教育、高职教育、继续教育、留学生教育为一体的多科性大学。

Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology is located in Baotou, one of the first national civilized cities and the beautiful grassland steel city. Its predecessor was Baotou Iron and Steel Industry School and Baotou Architectural Engineering School founded in 1956, which was subordinate to the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. In 1998, it was put under the management of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and in 2003, it was renamed Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology. After more than 60 years of construction and development, the university has become a multidisciplinary university with metallurgy, materials, mining and machinery as its characteristics, coordinated development of engineering, science, liberal arts, management, economics, law, art, education and other disciplines, integrating graduate education, undergraduate education, higher vocational education, continuing education and international student education.

学校现有全日制在校生26000余人，其中博士、硕士研究生3600余人。教职工2000余人，其中专任教师1400余人，具有博士、硕士学位教师占专任教师总数的90%以上，教授、副教授占比超过50%。拥有双聘院士、国家杰出青年科学基金获得者、国家“万人计划”领军人才等国家级人才10余人，自治区级教学名师、草原英才等省部级人才180余人。

The university currently has more than 26,000 full-time students, including more than 3,600 doctoral and master's students. There are more than 2,000 faculty members, including more than 1,400 full-time teachers. More than 90% of the full-time teachers have doctoral or master's degrees, and more than 50% are professors or associate professors. It has more than 10 national-level talents such as double-employed academicians, winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, and leading talents of the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program", and more than 180 provincial-level talents such as autonomous region-level teaching masters and grassland talents.
