吉林动画学院创建于2000年6月，2008年经教育部批准为民办普通本科高校。学校设有动画艺术学院、漫画学院、游戏学院等15个教学单位，开设动画、数字媒体艺术、数字媒体技术等32个本科专业，涵盖艺术学、文学、工学、经济学、管理学五个学科门类，形成动漫游、设计、影视等六大专业集群。现有本科在校生13000余人，专任教师500余名，外籍客座教授200余名。

Jilin Animation Institute was founded in June 2000 and approved by the Ministry of Education as a private general undergraduate university in 2008. The university has 15 teaching units including the School of Animation Art, School of Comics, and School of Game, offering 32 undergraduate majors such as Animation, Digital Media Art, and Digital Media Technology, covering five disciplines of Arts, Literature, Engineering, Economics, and Management, forming six professional clusters including animation, games, design, and film and television. Currently, there are over 13,000 undergraduate students, more than 500 full-time teachers, and over 200 foreign visiting professors.

学校秉承“自尊、自强、创新、创造”的校训精神，坚持“开放式国际化、学研产一体化、创意产品高科技化”三大办学特色，先后被评为国家动画教学研究基地、国家动画产业基地、国家文化产业示范基地，2025年在动画职业评论全球动画大学排名中位列全球第37位（除美国院校）、亚洲第5位。师生作品荣获广岛国际动漫节最佳影片大奖、德国红点概念设计奖等国内外奖项3000余项。

Adhering to the school motto of "Self-respect, Self-improvement, Innovation, Creation", the university insists on the three school-running characteristics of "Open Internationalization, Integration of Learning, Research and Industry, and High-tech Creative Products". It has been successively rated as the National Animation Teaching and Research Base, National Animation Industry Base, and National Cultural Industry Demonstration Base. In 2025, it ranked 37th in the world (excluding American universities) and 5th in Asia in the Global Animation University Ranking by Animation Career Review. Teachers and students have won more than 3,000 domestic and foreign awards such as the Best Film Award at the Hiroshima International Animation Festival and the Red Dot Design Concept Award in Germany.
