吉林体育学院成立于1958年，地处吉林省长春市，是吉林省唯一一所高等体育专业院校。2004年，原吉林省体育运动学校并入吉林体育学院。建校六十余年来，学校坚持社会主义办学方向，落实立德树人根本任务，培养了数万名优秀体育人才，为国家和区域体育事业及经济社会发展作出重要贡献。

Founded in 1958 and located in Changchun, Jilin Province, Jilin Institute of Physical Education is the only higher sports professional college in Jilin Province. In 2004, the former Jilin Provincial Sports School was merged into Jilin Institute of Physical Education. Over the past 60 years since its establishment, the university has adhered to the socialist orientation in running schools, implemented the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and cultivated tens of thousands of outstanding sports talents, making important contributions to the development of national and regional sports undertakings as well as economic and social development.

学校现有南岭、临河两个校区，占地面积62.7万平方米，正在积极推进新校区建设。各类全日制学生万余人，教职工600余人，拥有一支包括国家万人计划领军人才、国务院特殊津贴专家等在内的优秀师资队伍。作为吉林省特色高水平应用型大学建设高校和博士授权点立项建设单位，学校设有20个本科专业，覆盖教育学、管理学、艺术学、理学、法学五大学科门类，拥有体育学一级学科硕士学位授权点及体育硕士、教育硕士两个专业学位授权点。

The university currently has two campuses, Nanling and Linhe, covering an area of 627,000 square meters, and is actively promoting the construction of a new campus. There are over 10,000 full-time students and more than 600 faculty members, with an excellent teaching team including national-level leading talents in the "Ten Thousand Talents Program" and experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council. As a high-level applied university with distinctive features in Jilin Province and a project-constructing unit for doctoral degree authorization, the university offers 20 undergraduate majors covering five disciplines: Education, Management, Art, Science, and Law. It also has a first-level discipline master's degree authorization point in Physical Education and two professional master's degree authorization points in Sports and Education.

学校拥有17个省部级以上科研教研平台，近年来获批国家一流专业建设点5个、省级一流专业建设点4个，主持获得国家级教学成果奖3项。主动对接国家和地方战略，以校企合作、产教融合为人才培养核心抓手，探索出专业与产业对接、人才与岗位对接的转型发展路径，被誉为体育专业院校转型发展的风向标。其拳击、散打、滑雪等高水平运动队在国内外赛事中成绩卓著，学校致力于建设特色鲜明的地方性高水平应用型体育大学。
