江苏海洋大学是江苏省属全日制普通本科高校。学校前身是1985年创办的淮海大学(筹)，1989年教育部批复为淮海工学院。1998年至2002年，原江苏盐业学校、连云港水产学校和连云港化工高等专科学校先后并入。2019年6月，教育部批准更名为江苏海洋大学，海洋高等教育办学历史可追溯至1958年的新海连水产专科学校。学校现有苍梧、通灌、宋跳、墟沟四个校区，主校区位于连云港市花果山风景区西麓，总占地2193.83亩，校舍面积65.71万平方米。

Jiangsu Ocean University is a full-time public undergraduate university affiliated to Jiangsu Province. Its predecessor was Huaihai University (preparatory), founded in 1985, and was approved by the Ministry of Education as Huaihai Institute of Technology in 1989. From 1998 to 2002, the former Jiangsu Salt Industry School, Lianyungang Aquatic School and Lianyungang Chemical College were merged into the university successively. In June 2019, the Ministry of Education approved the renaming to Jiangsu Ocean University, with its marine higher education history dating back to Xinhailian Aquatic College founded in 1958. The university has four campuses: Cangwu, Tongguan, Songtiao and Xugou, with the main campus located at the western foot of Huaguoshan Scenic Area in Lianyungang City, covering a total area of 2193.83 mu and a building area of 657,100 square meters.

学校现有教职工1816人，全日制本科生20443名、研究生2426名、留学生164名。专任教师1496人中，高级职称者583人，博士学位者784人，其中国家级高层次人才2人，江苏省教学名师2人，7位教师入选2024年全球前2%顶尖科学家榜单。学校拥有3个国家级特色专业、28个国家级一流本科专业建设点，7个专业通过工程教育专业认证。海洋科学为江苏省优势学科，工程学、植物与动物科学、农业科学3个学科进入ESI全球前1%。近5年获国家级教学成果奖6项，学生龙舟队多次蝉联国内外大学生龙舟锦标赛冠军。

The university has 1,816 faculty members, including 20,443 full-time undergraduates, 2,426 postgraduates and 164 international students. Among the 1,496 full-time teachers, 583 have senior professional titles and 784 have doctoral degrees, including 2 national high-level talents, 2 Jiangsu Provincial Teaching Masters, and 7 teachers listed in the top 2% of the world's top scientists in 2024. The university has 3 national characteristic specialties, 28 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 7 majors have passed engineering education professional certification. Marine Science is a dominant discipline in Jiangsu Province, and 3 disciplines (Engineering, Plant and Animal Science, and Agricultural Science) have entered the top 1% of ESI globally. In the past five years, it has won 6 national teaching achievement awards, and the student dragon boat team has won championships in domestic and international college dragon boat competitions for many times.

学校坚持以服务海洋强国战略为使命，构建了海洋科学与技术、海洋工程与装备、海洋资源与环境、海洋经济与文化四大涉海学科平台。拥有省部级科技创新平台37个，其中国家大学科技园1个。与乌克兰马卡洛夫国立造船大学共建中外合作办学机构——马卡洛夫海洋工程学院，与20多个国家的高校保持友好合作关系。学校先后荣获全国群众体育先进单位、江苏省文明单位标兵等多项荣誉称号，正朝着建设高水平应用研究型海洋大学的目标迈进。

Adhering to the mission of serving the marine power strategy, the university has built four marine-related discipline platforms: Marine Science and Technology, Marine Engineering and Equipment, Marine Resources and Environment, and Marine Economy and Culture. It has 37 provincial-level scientific and technological innovation platforms, including 1 national university science park. It has jointly established the Makarov Marine Engineering College with Makarov National Shipbuilding University of Ukraine, and maintains friendly cooperative relations with universities in more than 20 countries. The university has successively won many honorary titles such as National Advanced Unit of Mass Sports and Model Civilized Unit of Jiangsu Province, and is moving towards the goal of building a high-level applied research-oriented marine university.
