The Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages was founded in 1941, formerly known as the Almaty Foreign Language Teachers' Institute, and was officially renamed to its current name in 1998. Located in Almaty, Kazakhstan, it is one of the top five universities in the country, specializing in humanities, linguistics, and international relations, offering instruction in 14 world languages and holding an important position in Kazakh higher education.

In the 2025 QS World University Rankings, the university is ranked in the 1201-1400 range, 305th in the QS Asia University Rankings, and its Modern Languages program is ranked in the 251-300 range, reflecting its teaching strength in relevant disciplines.

Its campus is located at the foot of the Zailiysky Alatau Mountains in Almaty, dedicated to cultivating professionals with international perspectives and cross-cultural communication skills, and is known as the "cradle of Kazakh diplomats."
