昆明铁道职业技术学院是一所办学历史悠久、行业特色鲜明的公办全日制高职院校，由原铁道部1958年创建，原名昆明铁路机械学校。2004年铁路主辅分离后，学校由昆明铁路局移交昆明市人民政府；2016年升格组建全日制高职学院，2019年通过教育部人才培养合格评估，2020年云南省邮电学校并入。学校秉承“铁肩道义”校训，树立“与铁路同行，与未来同在”的办学理念，专注培养铁道运输领域高素质技术技能人才。

Kunming Railway Vocational Technical College is a public full-time vocational college with a long history and distinct industry characteristics. Founded in 1958 by the former Ministry of Railways, it was originally named Kunming Railway Machinery School. After the separation of railway main and auxiliary businesses in 2004, the school was transferred from Kunming Railway Bureau to Kunming Municipal People's Government. It was upgraded to a full-time vocational college in 2016, passed the qualification assessment of talent training by the Ministry of Education in 2019, and merged with Yunnan Post and Telecommunications School in 2020. Adhering to the school motto of "Iron Shoulder for Morality" and the educational philosophy of "Walking with Railways, Coexisting with the Future", the college focuses on cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents in the field of railway transportation.

学校现有小石坝、羊甫两个校区，开设铁道机车运用与维护、动车组检修技术、铁道工程技术等特色专业，形成以铁道运输类专业为核心的专业群。近年来，学校积极推进产教融合，与铁路局、城市轨道交通企业等建立紧密合作，建有专业实训基地，注重实践教学与行业需求对接，为区域铁路和城市轨道交通发展输送了大量技术人才。

The college has two campuses: Xiaoshiba and Yangfu. It offers characteristic majors such as Railway Locomotive Operation and Maintenance, EMU Maintenance Technology, and Railway Engineering Technology, forming a professional cluster with railway transportation majors as the core. In recent years, the college has actively promoted the integration of industry and education, established close cooperation with railway bureaus and urban rail transit enterprises, built professional training bases, and focused on connecting practical teaching with industry needs, thus providing a large number of technical talents for the development of regional railways and urban rail transit.
