辽宁工业大学是一所以工为主，理、工、经、管、文、法、艺术等协调发展的多科性应用型大学，始建于1951年，历经锦州工学院、辽宁工学院等发展阶段，2007年3月更名为辽宁工业大学。学校2013年入选国家中西部高校基础能力建设工程重点建设高校，2016年获批辽宁省首批深化创新创业教育改革示范高校，2017年获批辽宁省普通本科高等学校向应用型转变示范高校，2017年获批全国高校实践育人创新创业基地，2019年入选全国创新创业典型经验高校（50强），2021年入选国家5G+智慧教育应用试点项目和国家十四五时期教育强国推进工程。

Liaoning University of Technology is a multidisciplinary application-oriented university with engineering as its main focus, and coordinated development of science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, art, etc. Founded in 1951, it has gone through development stages such as Jinzhou Institute of Technology and Liaoning Institute of Technology, and was renamed Liaoning University of Technology in March 2007. In 2013, the university was selected as a key university in the National Basic Ability Construction Project for Western and Central China Universities. In 2016, it was approved as one of the first batch of demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in Liaoning Province. In 2017, it was approved as a demonstration university for transforming to application-oriented universities among ordinary undergraduate institutions in Liaoning Province and a national university practice education innovation and entrepreneurship base. In 2019, it was selected as one of the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Typical Experience Universities (Top 50). In 2021, it was selected into the National 5G + Smart Education Application Pilot Project and the National 14th Five-Year Plan Education Power Promotion Project.

学校现有18个教学院（部），全日制在校生17184人，其中本科生14638人，硕士研究生2309人，留学生237人。占地面积63万多平方米，教学科研仪器设备总值达到3.51亿元，图书馆藏书138万余册，电子图书量达到64万余册。秉承“砺器悟道”的校训精神，培育和发扬“严谨求实、勤学进取”的优良校风，以服务区域经济社会发展、培育高素质应用型人才为己任，为社会培养输送了12万余名优秀人才。

The university currently has 18 teaching colleges (departments), with 17,184 full-time students, including 14,638 undergraduates, 2,309 postgraduates, and 237 international students. It covers an area of more than 630,000 square meters, with a total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment reaching 351 million yuan. The library has a collection of more than 1.38 million books and 640,000 e-books. Upholding the school motto of "Forging Tools and Understanding the Dao" and fostering the fine school spirit of "Rigorous, Realistic, Diligent and Progressive", the university takes serving regional economic and social development and cultivating high-quality applied talents as its responsibility, and has trained and transported more than 120,000 outstanding talents for the society.
