The university boasts strong academic strengths, with internationally recognized achievements in Physics, Biomedicine, and Information Technology. The Physics Department, in close collaboration with the Physical-Technical Institute, has made significant progress in solid-state physics and nanomaterials, with its ceramic technology for nuclear waste disposal entering industrial application. The Biomedicine program utilizes supercomputers to support research, while the Chemistry Department has produced 3 national academicians and 4 members of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Seventy percent of the faculty hold doctoral degrees, including 13 corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and 24 laureates of the Federal功勋科学家 title.
