乐山师范学院地处世界三大遗产所在地、中国最佳旅游目的地、世界文化名人郭沫若的故乡、成渝双城经济圈区域中心城市——四川乐山，东望乐山大佛，南临大渡河，西眺峨眉山，北接城市绿心。学校溯源于1940年四川省立乐山师范学校，赓续武汉大学1938-1946年西迁乐山办学文脉，1978年建立乐山师范专科学校，开启高等教育新起点。

Leshan Normal University is located in Leshan, Sichuan, a regional central city in the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle, which is the hometown of world cultural celebrity Guo Moruo and a destination with three world heritage sites. The university faces the Leshan Giant Buddha to the east, borders the Dadu River to the south, overlooks Mount Emei to the west, and connects to the urban green heart to the north. Tracing its roots to the Sichuan Provincial Leshan Normal School founded in 1940, it continues the academic heritage of Wuhan University during its westward relocation to Leshan from 1938 to 1946. In 1978, Leshan Teachers College was established, marking a new starting point for higher education.

学校坚持地方性、师范性、应用型的办学定位，立足乐山、面向川渝、辐射西南多民族聚居区，以教师教育为基，构建多学科协调发展的应用型学科专业体系；以本科教育为主，大力发展研究生教育，积极发展国际教育、继续教育等其他类型教育，着力培养德才兼备、服务教育事业和经济社会发展的高素质应用型人才，奋力把学校建设成为特色鲜明的省属一流应用型大学。2006年以良好等级通过本科教学工作水平评估，2018年通过教育部本科教学工作审核评估，2024年通过新一轮本科教育教学审核评估。

Adhering to the orientation of being local, normal, and application-oriented, the university is rooted in Leshan, oriented towards Sichuan and Chongqing, and radiates to multi-ethnic areas in Southwest China. Based on teacher education, it has built an application-oriented discipline system with coordinated development of multiple disciplines. Focusing on undergraduate education, it vigorously develops postgraduate education and actively promotes international education and continuing education. The university is committed to cultivating high-quality application-oriented talents with both moral integrity and academic ability, serving educational undertakings and economic and social development, striving to build itself into a distinctive first-class application-oriented university in Sichuan Province. It passed the undergraduate teaching level evaluation with a good grade in 2006, the undergraduate teaching audit evaluation by the Ministry of Education in 2018, and the new round of undergraduate education teaching audit evaluation in 2024.

学校依山傍水，书香浓郁，海棠校区占地1150余亩，建筑面积43.3万平方米，规划建设苏稽校区1100亩，一期规划建筑面积45万平方米。图书馆馆藏纸质书（刊）181万余册，电子书（刊）981万余册，有68个数据库，教学科研仪器设备总值达2.72亿元。现有全日制普通本专科在校生19000余人、学历留学生近百人，教职工近1500人，高级职称400余人，博士、硕士学位近1200人。

Nestled between mountains and rivers with a strong academic atmosphere, the university's Haitang Campus covers an area of over 1150 mu (about 766,667 square meters) with a building area of 433,000 square meters. The planned Suji Campus covers 1100 mu (about 733,333 square meters), with a planned building area of 450,000 square meters for the first phase. The library has a collection of more than 1.81 million paper books (journals) and over 9.81 million e-books (journals), with 68 databases. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment reaches 272 million yuan. Currently, there are more than 19,000 full-time undergraduate and junior college students, nearly 100 international students, and nearly 1,500 faculty members, including over 400 with senior professional titles and nearly 1,200 with doctoral or master's degrees.

学校设有17个教学院，60个本科专业，涵盖文、史、理、工、教、经、管、法、农、艺十大学科门类。林学学科入选四川省高等学校“双一流”建设贡嘎计划建设学科。学校先后获得“国家级语言文字规范化示范校”“全国艺术教育先进学校”“全国五四红旗团委”“国防教育特色学校”“省级文明单位”等荣誉，被授予“四川省乡村旅游实用人才开发示范单位”“国家西部旅游专门人才培训示范单位”等称号。

The university has 17 teaching colleges and 60 undergraduate majors, covering ten disciplines including literature, history, science, engineering, education, economics, management, law, agriculture, and art. The Forestry discipline was selected into the "Double First-Class" Construction Gongga Plan of Sichuan Provincial Colleges and Universities. The university has successively won honors such as "National Model School for Language and Character Standardization", "National Advanced School for Art Education", "National May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Committee", "National Defense Education Characteristic School", and "Provincial Civilized Unit". It has also been awarded titles like "Sichuan Provincial Demonstration Unit for Rural Tourism Practical Talent Development" and "National Western Tourism Professional Talent Training Demonstration Unit".
