兰州文理学院是教育部批准设立的省属公办普通本科院校，是甘肃省首批向应用型转型发展试点高校、甘肃省硕士学位授予立项建设单位，中国传媒大学、北京理工大学、兰州大学对口支援院校，“一带一路”高校联盟创始成员。学校前身是1950年创办的甘肃教育学院和1985年创办的甘肃联合大学，2001年两校合并组建新的甘肃联合大学，2013年4月经教育部批准升格为兰州文理学院。

Lanzhou University of Arts and Science is a public undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education. It is among the first pilot universities in Gansu Province to transform into application-oriented institutions, a project-construction unit for granting master's degrees in Gansu, and a counterpart-supported university by Communication University of China, Beijing Institute of Technology, and Lanzhou University. It is also a founding member of the "Belt and Road" University Alliance. Its predecessors were Gansu Institute of Education (founded in 1950) and Gansu Union University (founded in 1985). The two institutions merged to form the new Gansu Union University in 2001, and it was upgraded to Lanzhou University of Arts and Science with the approval of the Ministry of Education in April 2013.

学校地处丝绸之路经济带重要节点城市——兰州，坐落于主城区黄河之滨，校园占地面积1300余亩，校舍建筑面积33万平方米。学校以“为党育人、为国育才，突出应用、服务发展”为使命，构建了以文化、旅游、传媒、艺术为特色的学科专业体系，面向第三产业特别是现代服务业、文化产业培养应用型人才，现有全日制在校生万余人，教职工800余人。

Located in Lanzhou, a key node city on the Silk Road Economic Belt, the university is situated on the bank of the Yellow River in the main urban area. It covers an area of over 1,300 mu (about 86.7 hectares) with a building area of 330,000 square meters. With the mission of "Cultivating talents for the Party and the country, emphasizing application, and serving development", the university has established a discipline system featuring culture, tourism, media, and art. It focuses on cultivating application-oriented talents for the tertiary industry, especially modern service and cultural industries. Currently, it has over 10,000 full-time students and more than 800 faculty members.
