牡丹江师范学院始建于1958年，历经东北农学院嫩江分院、北安师范专科学校、宁安师范专科学校等发展阶段，1970年正式定名为牡丹江师范学院。学校是全国首批学士学位授予单位，2006年获批硕士学位授予单位，2018年入选黑龙江省高水平大学和优势特色学科建设高校，2021年成为第二批国家语言文字推广基地。

Mudanjiang Normal University was founded in 1958, undergoing development stages such as Nenjiang Branch of Northeast Agricultural College, Bei'an Normal College, and Ning'an Normal College. It was officially named Mudanjiang Normal University in 1970. The university is among the first batch of bachelor's degree-granting institutions in China, obtained the qualification for master's degree authorization in 2006, was selected as a high-level university with advantageous and characteristic disciplines in Heilongjiang Province in 2018, and became the second batch of national language promotion bases in 2021.

截至2023年5月，学校占地面积68.35万平方米，设有21个二级学院，开设58个本科专业，覆盖工学、理学、文学、教育学等10大学科门类。现有教职工1265人，专任教师855人，其中教授、副教授403人；全日制本科生、研究生等各类在校生近19000人。拥有国家级一流本科专业建设点5个、国家级一流本科课程9门，省级重点学科2个、特色学科2个，是黑龙江省东南部地区规模最大的省属本科院校。

As of May 2023, the university covers an area of 683,500 square meters, with 21 secondary colleges and 58 undergraduate majors covering 10 disciplines including engineering, science, literature, and education. It has 1,265 faculty members, including 855 full-time teachers with 403 professors and associate professors. There are nearly 19,000 students, including full-time undergraduates and postgraduates. The university boasts 5 national first-class undergraduate program construction sites, 9 national first-class undergraduate courses, 2 provincial key disciplines, and 2 characteristic disciplines, making it the largest provincial undergraduate university in southeastern Heilongjiang Province.

学校坚持师范教育特色，建有黑龙江省乡村教师教育发展学院、自贸区学院等特色机构，拥有黑龙江省语言文字馆、牡丹江流域历史博物馆等多个教育教学场馆。注重国际交流合作，是中国政府奖学金院校，与俄罗斯、韩国等国53所高校建立友好合作关系，为区域经济社会发展培养了10万余名基础教育师资和应用型人才。

Adhering to the characteristics of teacher education, the university has established specialized institutions such as Heilongjiang Rural Teacher Education Development College and Free Trade Zone College, along with educational venues including Heilongjiang Language Museum and Mudanjiang River Basin History Museum. It emphasizes international exchanges and cooperation as a Chinese Government Scholarship institution, having established friendly partnerships with 53 universities in Russia, South Korea, etc. The university has cultivated over 100,000 basic education teachers and applied talents for regional economic and social development.
