宁波工程学院是经教育部批准设立，省市共建、以市为主的全日制普通本科院校、硕士学位授予单位。学校因甬而生，1983年宁波高等专科学校作为宁波第一所以工科为主的高校应运而生；因德而立，办学之初作为原联邦德国援建中国的四所高校之一，借鉴德国工程师教育经验奠定应用型办学定位；因用而强，历经升格更名、入选卓越工程师教育培养计划、获批硕士学位授予单位等发展阶段，现已成为特色鲜明的应用型高校。

Ningbo University of Technology is a full-time public undergraduate institution and a master's degree-granting unit approved by the Ministry of Education, co-constructed by the province and city with municipal administration as the main body. Founded in 1983 as Ningbo College, it was the first engineering-focused higher education institution in Ningbo. Initially established as one of four Chinese universities aided by the former Federal Republic of Germany, it laid its applied-oriented educational foundation by drawing on German engineering education experience. Through development stages including升格更名, being selected into the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, and obtaining master's degree-granting qualification, it has now become a distinctive application-oriented university.

学校占地面积1800亩，设有风华、翠柏、前湾三个校区，现有19个二级教学机构，8个硕士学位点，51个本科专业，24个校一级学科。在校全日制本科生17000余人、研究生398人、国际生207人；教职工1482人，其中专任教师1232人，高级职称462人，博士714人。教学科研仪器设备总值达5.6亿元，3个学科进入ESI全球前1%，5个专业入选国家级一流本科专业建设点。

Covering an area of 1800 mu, the university has three campuses: Fenghua, Cuibai, and Qianwan. It comprises 19 secondary teaching institutions, 8 master's degree programs, 51 undergraduate majors, and 24 university-level first-class disciplines. The student body includes over 17,000 full-time undergraduates, 398 postgraduates, and 207 international students. The faculty consists of 1482 staff, including 1232 full-time teachers, 462 with senior professional titles, and 714 with doctoral degrees. The total value of teaching and research equipment reaches 560 million yuan, with 3 disciplines entering the top 1% of ESI globally and 5 majors selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites.

学校坚持“知行合一”校训和“讲实求精”精神，以文化育人为理念，打造工匠精神、阳明文化等校园文化品牌。深化产教融合，建有国家级现代产业学院，与30多个国家和地区的130余所院校建立合作关系，培养了10万余名高素质人才，毕业生就业率稳定在95%左右，留甬率超50%，为地方经济社会发展提供有力支撑。

Adhering to the motto "Unity of Knowledge and Action" and the spirit of "Practicality and Excellence", the university emphasizes cultural education and has created campus cultural brands such as craftsmanship spirit and Yangming culture. It deepens industry-education integration with national-level modern industrial colleges and has established partnerships with over 130 institutions in more than 30 countries and regions. Having cultivated over 100,000 high-quality talents, it maintains a graduate employment rate of around 95% with over 50% staying in Ningbo, providing strong support for local economic and social development.
