北方工业大学是一所以工为主，理、工、文、经、管、法、艺七大学科门类协调发展，工科优势突出、特色鲜明的北京市属重点高校，也是教育部“卓越工程师教育培养计划”高校、国家级人才培养模式创新实验区和国家级大学生创新创业训练计划实施高校。学校前身是创办于1946年的国立北平高级工业职业学校，后历经北京工业钢铁学校、北京冶金专科学校、石景山冶金学院、北京钢铁学校、北京冶金机电学院等发展阶段，1985年更名为北方工业大学。

North China University of Technology is a key university in Beijing, mainly focusing on engineering, with coordinated development of seven disciplines including science, engineering, liberal arts, economics, management, law, and art. It has prominent engineering advantages and distinctive features. It is also a university under the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, a national talent training model innovation experimental zone, and a university implementing the national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training program. The predecessor of the university was the National Beiping Advanced Industrial Vocational School founded in 1946, which later went through development stages such as Beijing Industrial Iron and Steel School, Beijing Metallurgical College, Shijingshan Metallurgical College, Beijing Iron and Steel School, Beijing Metallurgical and Mechanical College, and was renamed North China University of Technology in 1985.

学校位于北京市石景山区，地处长安街西延长线，坐落在西山脚下，风景秀丽，环境宜人。校园占地452亩，建筑面积40余万平方米。学校现有全日制在校学生15000余人，其中本科生12000余人，研究生3000余人，留学生600余人。学校师资力量雄厚，现有教职工1000余人，其中专任教师800余人，具有高级职称的教师占比近60%，具有博士学位的教师占比近80%。

The university is located in Shijingshan District, Beijing, on the west extension of Chang'an Avenue, at the foot of the Western Hills, with beautiful scenery and a pleasant environment. The campus covers an area of 452 mu, with a building area of more than 400,000 square meters. At present, the university has more than 15,000 full-time students, including more than 12,000 undergraduates, more than 3,000 postgraduates, and more than 600 international students. The university has a strong faculty, with more than 1,000 faculty members, including more than 800 full-time teachers. Teachers with senior professional titles account for nearly 60%, and teachers with doctoral degrees account for nearly 80%.
