华北水利水电大学是一所位于中国河南省郑州市的多科性省属重点大学，是以水利电力为特色，工科为主干，理、工、农、经、管、文、法、艺等多学科协调发展的高等学府。学校前身为1951年创建的北京水利水电学院，历经多次调整与发展，2013年更名为华北水利水电大学，至今已成为水利水电行业人才培养和科学研究的重要基地。

North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power is a multidisciplinary provincial key university located in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China. It features water conservancy and electric power, with engineering as its main discipline, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines including science, engineering, agriculture, economics, management, literature, law, and arts. The university was formerly known as Beijing Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower, founded in 1951. After several adjustments and developments, it was renamed North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power in 2013 and has since become an important base for talent cultivation and scientific research in the water conservancy and hydropower industry.

学校坚持立德树人根本任务，注重培养学生的创新精神和实践能力，形成了“育人为本、学以致用”的办学理念。现有全日制本科生、研究生及留学生3万余人，教职工2000余人，其中高级职称人员800余人，拥有国家级教学团队、国家级人才等各类高层次人才。学校设有24个学院，开设68个本科专业，拥有10个一级学科博士学位授权点，38个一级学科硕士学位授权点，覆盖多个学科领域。

The university adheres to the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and talents, focuses on cultivating students' innovative spirit and practical ability, and has formed the school-running philosophy of "people-oriented education and applying what is learned". It currently has over 30,000 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates and international students, and more than 2,000 faculty members, including over 800 with senior professional titles, and various high-level talents such as national teaching teams and national-level talents. The university has 24 colleges, offering 68 undergraduate majors, with 10 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points and 38 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, covering multiple disciplinary fields.

在科学研究方面，学校围绕国家水利水电事业和区域经济社会发展需求，积极开展科研创新，取得了一批具有重要影响力的成果。拥有国家级科研平台、省部级重点实验室等多个科研基地，在水资源高效利用、水旱灾害防治、新能源开发等领域形成了鲜明特色和优势。同时，学校注重国际交流与合作，与多所国外高校建立了友好合作关系，开展联合培养、学术交流等活动，不断提升国际化办学水平。

In terms of scientific research, focusing on the needs of the national water conservancy and hydropower cause and regional economic and social development, the university actively carries out scientific research innovation and has achieved a number of influential results. It has multiple scientific research bases such as national-level scientific research platforms and provincial-level key laboratories, and has formed distinctive features and advantages in the fields of efficient utilization of water resources, prevention and control of floods and droughts, and development of new energy.
