宁夏工商职业技术大学始创于1951年，是经教育部批准设置的公办本科层次职业学校。学校先后由宁夏商业学校、宁夏供销学校、宁夏粮食学校、宁夏机电工程学校（宁夏农业机械化学校）和宁夏化工技师学院（宁夏化工技校）经两轮合并组建而成，2002年升格为高等专科学校，2025年6月升格为职业本科大学。74年的办学历程中，学校铸就了“厚德、勤学、敬业、强能”的校训精神，先后被确立为自治区第一批示范性高职院校、国家首批百所骨干高职院校、国家优质专科高等职业院校、中国特色高水平专业群（B档）建设单位，并荣获第五届黄炎培职业教育优秀学校奖、全国高等职业院校治理体系建设50强等荣誉称号。

Ningxia Vocational and Technical University of Industry and Commerce was founded in 1951 and is a public undergraduate vocational school approved by the Ministry of Education. The university was formed through two rounds of mergers of Ningxia Commercial School, Ningxia Supply and Marketing School, Ningxia Grain School, Ningxia Mechanical and Electrical Engineering School (Ningxia Agricultural Mechanization School), and Ningxia Chemical Technician College (Ningxia Chemical Technical School). It was upgraded to a junior college in 2002 and to an undergraduate vocational university in June 2025. During its 74-year history, the university has forged the school motto spirit of "Virtue, Diligence, Dedication, and Competence". It has been designated as the first batch of demonstration higher vocational colleges in the autonomous region, one of the first 100 national backbone higher vocational colleges, a national high-quality junior college, and a construction unit for China's distinctive high-level professional groups (Grade B). It has also won honors such as the 5th Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Excellent School Award and Top 50 in National Higher Vocational College Governance System Construction.

学校位于宁夏银川市西夏区大连西路531号，占地1305.93亩，建筑面积25.83万平方米，固定资产11.18亿元，教学科研仪器设备总值2亿余元，馆藏图书123.11万册。现有教职工644人，其中专任教师460人，正高级职称32人，“双师型”教师占比73.29%。开设装备制造、生物与化工等10个大类42个高职专业及5个职业本科专业，全日制在校生8200余人。学校构建了以国家级高水平专业群为引领的三级专业集群体系，建有3个国家级生产性实训中心、3个国家级协同创新中心及203个教学做一体化实训室，牵头成立全国现代煤化工产教融合共同体，深化产教融合、校企合作，致力于培养高素质技术技能人才。

The university is located at No. 531 Dalian West Road, Xixia District, Yinchuan City, Ningxia, covering an area of 1,305.93 mu (about 87 hectares) with a building area of 258,300 square meters. It has fixed assets of 1.118 billion yuan, teaching and research equipment worth over 200 million yuan, and a collection of 1.2311 million books. There are 644 faculty members, including 460 full-time teachers, 32 with senior professional titles, and 73.29% of "double-qualified" teachers (with both academic and industry experience). The university offers 42 higher vocational programs across 10 categories such as equipment manufacturing and bio-chemical engineering, as well as 5 undergraduate vocational programs, with over 8,200 full-time students. It has established a three-level professional cluster system led by national high-level professional groups, including 3 national productive training centers, 3 national collaborative innovation centers, and 203 integrated teaching-practice-training rooms. The university leads the National Modern Coal Chemical Industry-Education Integration Community, deepening industry-education integration and university-enterprise cooperation to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents.
