宁夏医科大学前身是1958年建立的宁夏医学院，历经多次合并与更名，于2008年正式更名为宁夏医科大学，2014年宁夏师范学院医学院并入后，成为宁夏回族自治区唯一一所医学高等教育学府。学校是国家教育部、国家卫生健康委员会与宁夏回族自治区人民政府共建高校，现有雁湖、双怡两个校区，占地面积共1700亩。

Ningxia Medical University traces its roots to Ningxia Medical College established in 1958. After several mergers and name changes, it was officially renamed Ningxia Medical University in 2008. In 2014, the Medical College of Ningxia Normal University was merged into it, making it the only medical institution of higher education in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The university is a joint institution co-built by the Ministry of Education, the National Health Commission, and the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, with two campuses (Yanhuhu and Shuangyi) covering a total area of 1,700 mu.

学校学科门类涵盖医学、理学、管理学和工学四大领域，开设21个本科专业，其中8个国家级一流专业、5个国家级特色专业，拥有5个博士学位授权点和15个硕士学位授权点。临床医学和药理学与毒物学学科进入ESI全球前1%，现有教职员工及医护人员6882人，其中专任教师980人，副高以上职称784人，同时拥有12所附属医院及70余所实习医院和实践教学基地。

The university covers four disciplines: Medicine, Science, Management, and Engineering, offering 21 undergraduate programs, including 8 national first-class programs and 5 national characteristic programs. It has 5 doctoral degree authorization points and 15 master's degree authorization points. The disciplines of Clinical Medicine and Pharmacology & Toxicology have entered the top 1% of ESI globally. The university has 6,882 faculty members and medical staff, including 980 full-time teachers and 784 with associate senior titles or above. It also has 12 affiliated hospitals and more than 70 internship hospitals and practical teaching bases.
