Osaka University is a top national comprehensive university in Japan, founded in 1931. Formerly known as Osaka Imperial University, it is one of Japan's "old imperial universities". With the philosophy of "rooted in Osaka, contributing to the world", the university enjoys a high reputation in natural sciences, medicine, engineering, humanities and social sciences, and has cultivated many Nobel Prize winners, Wolf Prize winners and recipients of the Order of Culture of Japan.

学校拥有大阪府吹田市、丰中市、箕面市三个校区，下设11个学部、16个研究科，现有学生约28,000人，教职员约5,000人。作为日本文部科学省指定的“超级国际化大学计划”A类顶尖校，大阪大学积极推进国际交流，与全球300多所高校建立了合作关系。

The university has three campuses in Suita, Toyonaka, and Minoo cities of Osaka Prefecture, with 11 undergraduate faculties and 16 graduate schools. It currently has approximately 28,000 students and 5,000 faculty and staff members. As a Type A top university under the "Top Global University Project" designated by Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Osaka University actively promotes international exchanges and has established cooperative relationships with more than 300 universities worldwide.
