青岛理工大学创建于1953年，先后隶属原重工业部、原冶金工业部，1998年划转山东省领导，实行中央与地方共建、以地方管理为主的管理体制。历经山东冶金学院、青岛建筑工程学院时期，2004年更名为青岛理工大学。学校现辖黄岛、市北、临沂三个校区，占地面积约160.78万平方米，校舍建筑面积约109.48万平方米，图书馆藏书约266.1万册，教学科研仪器设备总值约6.71亿元。

Qingdao University of Technology was founded in 1953 and was successively affiliated to the former Ministry of Heavy Industry and the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. In 1998, it was transferred to the leadership of Shandong Province, implementing a management system of joint construction by the central and local governments, with local management as the mainstay. It went through the periods of Shandong Institute of Metallurgy and Qingdao Institute of Architectural Engineering, and was renamed Qingdao University of Technology in 2004. The university now has three campuses in Huangdao, Shibei, and Linyi, covering an area of approximately 1.6078 million square meters, with a school building area of about 1.0948 million square meters. The library has a collection of about 2.661 million books, and the total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is about 671 million yuan.

学校拥有本科、硕士、博士完整的人才培养体系，涵盖理工经管文法艺等7大学科门类，设有2个一级学科博士后科研流动站、2个博士学位授权一级学科、1个专业博士授权学科点、20个硕士学位授权一级学科、16个专业硕士学位点，共69个本科专业；全日制在校生33232人。土木工程获批省高峰学科，机械工程获批省优势特色学科；工程学、材料科学、化学、环境生态学ESI全球排名前1%；34个专业入选省级以上一流本科专业建设点，其中20个为国家级一流本科专业建设点。

The university has a complete talent training system for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs, covering 7 disciplines including science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, and art. It has 2 post-doctoral research mobile stations for first-level disciplines, 2 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, 1 professional doctoral authorization discipline point, 20 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, 16 professional master's degree points, and a total of 69 undergraduate majors. There are 33,232 full-time students. Civil Engineering has been approved as a provincial peak discipline, and Mechanical Engineering as a provincial advantageous and characteristic discipline; Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, and Environmental Ecology are ranked in the top 1% of ESI globally; 34 majors have been selected into provincial-level or above first-class undergraduate major construction sites, among which 20 are national first-class undergraduate major construction sites.

学校拥有高等学校学科创新引智基地（国家111计划）、国家实验教学示范中心、国家地方联合工程中心等5个国家级教学科研平台，以及教育部、山东省工程研究中心、重点实验室等45个省部级科研平台和协同创新中心，在人才培养、科学研究、社会服务等方面形成了鲜明特色和显著优势。

The university has 5 national-level teaching and research platforms such as the Higher Education Discipline Innovation and Intelligence Introduction Base (National "111 Plan"), National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, and National Local Joint Engineering Center, as well as 45 provincial-level scientific research platforms and collaborative innovation centers such as the Ministry of Education and Shandong Provincial Engineering Research Centers and Key Laboratories. It has formed distinct characteristics and significant advantages in talent training, scientific research, and social services.
