上海杉达学院是在上海浦东开发开放的背景下，于1992年6月由上海交通大学、北京大学、清华大学部分教授发起创办的全日制民办大学。2002年3月，经国家教育部批准设置为全日制普通本科院校，是上海市第一所本科民办高校。2015年通过教育部本科教学合格评估、2020年通过首轮审核评估。2017年列入上海市新增博士硕士学位授予单位建设规划。2024年9月，经国务院学位委员会批准审核增列为硕士学位授予单位，新增金融、电子信息、护理等3个硕士学位授权点。

Sanda University was founded in June 1992 by professors from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Peking University, and Tsinghua University as a full-time private university against the backdrop of Shanghai Pudong's development and opening-up. In March 2002, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as a full-time ordinary undergraduate institution, becoming Shanghai's first private undergraduate university. It passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment in 2015 and the first-round audit assessment in 2020. In 2017, it was included in Shanghai's plan for新增博士硕士学位授予单位. In September 2024, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as a master's degree-granting unit, with three new master's degree programs in Finance, Electronic Information, and Nursing.

“杉达”即为“三大”之谐音，寓意刚直挺拔、自立自强的杉树精神。杨槱院士、谢希德院士、倪维斗院士先后担纲创校前三任校长。建校33年，学校恪守非营利性公益办学原则，坚持“诚信、公平、质量”的办学理念。学校定位为建设多科性、国际化、高水平的应用技术大学，战略目标是“打造高质量，跃升新台阶”，愿景是“建设成为长三角地区最具吸引力的民办高校”，使命是“让每一位学生收获适合自己的发展增量”。

"Sanda" is a homophonic for "three greats", symbolizing the spirit of fir trees that are upright,挺拔, self-reliant and self-improving. Academicians Yang You, Xie Xide, and Ni Weidou successively served as the first three presidents of the university. Over its 33-year history, the university has adhered to the non-profit public welfare principle and the educational philosophy of "integrity, fairness, and quality". It is positioned to build a multidisciplinary, international, and high-level applied technology university, with the strategic goal of "creating high quality and leaping to a new level", the vision of "becoming the most attractive private university in the Yangtze River Delta region", and the mission of "enabling every student to gain development increments suitable for themselves".

学校建有上海浦东、浙江嘉善两个校区，总占地面积808亩。设有经济学、法学、文学、工学、管理学、艺术学、医学、教育学等8个学科门类，3个专业硕士学位授权点、43个本科专业、1个中外合作办学项目、6个专科专业，建立13个二级教学单位。全日制在校生1.6万余人，其中本科生1.5万余人（占94.3%）。毕业生累计6.8万余人，近五年平均就业率超过96%。现有专任教师960余人，其中高级职称教师占比36%，博士学位教师占比35%。

The university has two campuses in Pudong, Shanghai and Jiashan, Zhejiang, covering a total area of 808 mu. It offers 8 disciplines including Economics, Law, Literature, Engineering, Management, Arts, Medicine, and Education, with 3 professional master's degree authorization points, 43 undergraduate majors, 1 Sino-foreign cooperative education project, and 6 junior college majors, establishing 13 secondary teaching units. There are over 16,000 full-time students, including more than 15,000 undergraduates (accounting for 94.3%). The total number of graduates is over 68,000, with an average employment rate of over 96% in the past five years. There are more than 960 full-time teachers, among whom 36% have senior professional titles and 35% have doctoral degrees.

学校拥有国家级一流本科专业建设点2个，省级一流本科专业建设点15个。近三年，获上海高校一流本科课程33门、重点课程58门、课程思政示范课9门。2022年获市级教学成果奖4项，其中一等奖2项、二等奖2项。深化产教融合，与国有大型企业合办沪东工学院、时尚学院等实体学院，与头部企业共建华为ICT学院、华钦学院等平台学院，与仁济等三甲医院联建教学医院，与蓝生脑科合作挂牌附属医院上海蓝生宏德医院。

The university has 2 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites and 15 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites. In the past three years, it has won 33 first-class undergraduate courses, 58 key courses, and 9 ideological and political demonstration courses in Shanghai universities. In 2022, it won 4 municipal teaching achievement awards, including 2 first prizes and 2 second prizes. It deepens the integration of industry and education, co-founding实体 colleges such as Hudong Institute of Technology and Fashion College with large state-owned enterprises, building platform colleges such as Huawei ICT College and Huaqin College with leading enterprises, jointly establishing teaching hospitals with top three hospitals such as Renji Hospital, and cooperating with Lansheng Brain to list Shanghai Lansheng Hongde Hospital as an affiliated hospital.
