山东外国语职业技术大学前身是2005年8月经山东省人民政府批准、教育部备案成立的山东外国语职业学院。2018年12月，学校经教育部批准升格为本科层次职业学校，成为全国首批15所职业本科学校之一；2019年5月更名为山东外国语职业技术大学；2023年1月增列为职业本科教育学士学位授予单位。学校坐落于山东省日照市，现有全日制在校生21000余人，设有8个教学单位，开设43个专业，其中职业本科专业17个。

Shandong Vocational and Technical University of International Studies originated from Shandong Vocational College of International Studies, which was approved by the People's Government of Shandong Province and registered with the Ministry of Education in August 2005. In December 2018, the university was upgraded to an undergraduate vocational school with the approval of the Ministry of Education, becoming one of the first 15 undergraduate vocational schools in China. It was renamed Shandong Vocational and Technical University of International Studies in May 2019 and was accredited as a bachelor's degree-granting unit for vocational undergraduate education in January 2023. Located in Rizhao City, Shandong Province, the university currently has over 21,000 full-time students, 8 teaching units, and offers 43 majors, including 17 vocational undergraduate majors.

学校秉承“质量立校、特色发展、产教融合、服务社会”的办学理念，形成了“三融合、三组合、三拓展”的职业本科教育办学模式。“三融合”即校企融合、产教融合、市校融合，推动校企双主体育人、集团化办学及服务地方发展；“三组合”包括“外语+职业”“专业+外语”“拓展训练课+非遗文化课”组合，培养复合型人才与人文素养；“三拓展”致力于中国职教标准国际化、联合办学空间及学生职业视野的拓展，积极参与“一带一路”职业教育合作，共建海外办学项目。

Adhering to the school-running philosophy of "quality-oriented, characteristic development, integration of industry and education, and serving society", the university has formed a vocational undergraduate education model of "three integrations, three combinations, and three expansions". The "three integrations" refer to the integration of school and enterprise, integration of industry and education, and integration of city and university, promoting dual-subject education by schools and enterprises, group-based school running, and serving local development. The "three combinations" include "foreign language + profession", "major + foreign language", and "outward bound training courses + intangible cultural heritage courses", fostering compound talents and humanistic literacy. The "three expansions" are committed to internationalizing Chinese vocational education standards, expanding joint school-running space, and broadening students' professional horizons, actively participating in the "Belt and Road" vocational education cooperation and co-building overseas education projects.

学校是中宣部、教育部在山东省确立的《习近平谈治国理政》多语种版本“三进”唯一试点学校，荣获“全国高职院校国际影响力50强”“山东省校企一体化合作办学示范院校”等百余项荣誉，是中国教育国际交流协会等7个国际合作组织的会员单位，在教育国际化与产教融合领域成效显著。

The university is the only pilot school in Shandong Province designated by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Education for the "three entries" (into campuses, textbooks, and classrooms) of multilingual versions of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China". It has won more than 100 honors such as "Top 50 National Higher Vocational Colleges in International Influence" and "Shandong Provincial Model College for School-Enterprise Integration", and is a member unit of 7 international cooperation organizations including the China Education Association for International Exchange, achieving remarkable results in educational internationalization and industry-education integration.
