首钢工学院始建于1978年，前身为北京钢铁学院分院，1994年经国家教育部批准更名为首钢工学院，是北京市教育委员会领导管理、首钢集团有限公司举办的公办全日制普通高等院校。2016年挂牌北京市安全生产管理学院，2019年被认定为国家级专业技术人员继续教育基地，以工科为特色，兼具高等教育与职业技术教育双重属性。

Shougang Institute of Technology was founded in 1978, formerly known as the Branch of Beijing Iron and Steel Institute. Approved by the Ministry of Education in 1994, it was renamed Shougang Institute of Technology. It is a public full-time ordinary institution of higher education managed by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and sponsored by Shougang Group Co., Ltd. In 2016, it was listed as Beijing Institute of Work Safety Management, and in 2019, it was recognized as a national continuing education base for professional and technical personnel, featuring engineering and combining both higher education and vocational and technical education.

学院位于北京市石景山区晋元庄路6号，占地面积16.7万平方米，建筑面积10.8万平方米，建有实训中心、实验室、网络中心等现代化教学设施，图书馆藏书35万册，数字资源量27TB。下设7个二级学院，开设31个高职专业及12个成人专科学历教育专业，重点培养智能制造、安全环保、护理、学前教育等领域高素质技术技能人才，全日制高职在校生2372人，成人教育在读生1200人。

The college is located at No. 6 Jinyuanzhuang Road, Shijingshan District, Beijing, covering an area of 167,000 square meters with a building area of 108,000 square meters. It has modern teaching facilities such as training centers, laboratories, and network centers, with a library collection of 350,000 books and digital resources of 27TB. It has 7 secondary colleges, offering 31 higher vocational majors and 12 adult college education majors, focusing on cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents in intelligent manufacturing, safety and environmental protection, nursing, preschool education and other fields. There are 2,372 full-time higher vocational students and 1,200 adult education students.

学校秉承“自强、求实、团结、创新”校训，深化“校企合作、工学结合”办学模式，依托首钢集团资源优势，近五年获全国职业院校技能大赛一等奖8项、北京市教学成果奖6项，毕业生就业率连续保持98%以上，为首都经济社会发展培养了大批应用型人才，是北京市高校毕业生就业工作先进集体。
