上海师范大学是上海市重点建设大学，是一所以文科见长并具教师教育特色的文、理、工、艺等学科协调发展的综合性大学。学校创建于1954年，前身为上海师范专科学校，1956年扩建为上海第一师范学院和上海第二师范学院，1958年两校合并成立上海师范学院，1984年更名为上海师范大学。

Shanghai Normal University is a key university in Shanghai, a comprehensive university with strengths in liberal arts and distinctive features in teacher education, where disciplines such as arts, science, engineering, and arts develop in a coordinated manner. Founded in 1954, the university was formerly known as Shanghai Normal College. In 1956, it was expanded into Shanghai First Normal College and Shanghai Second Normal College. In 1958, the two colleges merged to form Shanghai Normal College, and in 1984, it was renamed Shanghai Normal University.

学校现有徐汇和奉贤两个校区，占地约134万平方米，校舍建筑面积近78万平方米。学校设有22个学院，覆盖哲学、经济学、法学、教育学、文学、历史学、理学、工学、管理学、农学、艺术学等11个学科门类，拥有一级学科博士学位授权点11个，一级学科硕士学位授权点33个，专业学位硕士点21个，博士后流动站9个。

The university currently has two campuses, Xuhui and Fengxian, covering an area of approximately 1.34 million square meters, with a building area of nearly 780,000 square meters. The university has 22 colleges, covering 11 disciplines including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, agriculture, and art. It has 11 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 33 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, 21 professional master's degree programs, and 9 post-doctoral research stations.

学校师资力量雄厚，现有教职工2900余人，其中专任教师1800余人，具有正高级专业技术职务者300余人，副高级专业技术职务者600余人，具有博士学位的教师占比超过80%。拥有国家级人才计划入选者100余人次，省部级人才计划入选者300余人次。

The university has a strong faculty, with more than 2,900 faculty members, including more than 1,800 full-time teachers, over 300 with senior professional and technical positions, over 600 with associate senior professional and technical positions, and more than 80% of teachers with doctoral degrees. It has more than 100 people selected into national talent programs and more than 300 people selected into provincial and ministerial talent programs.
