Shanghai University is a key university under the municipal administration of Shanghai and a member of the national "211 Project". It is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, a pilot university for the construction of first-class local universities in Shanghai, and a university with first-class discipline construction under the Ministry of Education. The university has a complete range of disciplines, covering philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, medicine, management, art and other disciplines.

学校设有26个学院、1个学部（筹）、2个中外合作办学学院、1个继续教育学院和1个国际教育学院。现有全日制本科生19000余人，全日制研究生16000余人，国际学生4800余人，成人教育学生1800余人。学校拥有一支高素质的师资队伍，现有专任教师3300余人，其中教授830余人、副教授1200余人，具有博士学位的教师占比超过80%。

The university has 26 colleges, 1 faculty (under preparation), 2 Sino-foreign cooperative education colleges, 1 continuing education college and 1 international education college. Currently, it has more than 19,000 full-time undergraduates, more than 16,000 full-time postgraduates, more than 4,800 international students, and more than 1,800 adult education students. The university has a high-quality teaching staff, with more than 3,300 full-time teachers, including more than 830 professors, more than 1,200 associate professors, and more than 80% of teachers with doctoral degrees.
