上海政法学院是上海市属公办全日制普通高等院校，前身为1984年建立的上海市政法管理干部学院，历经上海法律高等专科学校、上海大学法学院等发展阶段，2004年正式组建为独立设置的本科院校，2024年获批博士学位授权单位。学校坚持“立足政法、服务上海、面向全国、放眼世界”的办学理念，以法学为特色主干学科，形成法学、管理学、经济学、文学等多学科协调发展的学科体系，培养德法兼修的高素质复合型应用型人才。

Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (SHUPL) is a public full-time undergraduate institution affiliated to Shanghai Municipality. Its predecessor was the Shanghai Administrative Cadre College of Political Science and Law founded in 1984, evolving through stages including Shanghai Junior College of Law and Law School of Shanghai University. It was formally established as an independent undergraduate university in 2004 and obtained doctoral degree authorization in 2024. Adhering to the educational philosophy of "rooted in political science and law, serving Shanghai, facing the whole country, and looking to the world", SHUPL takes law as its dominant discipline, forming a coordinated disciplinary system encompassing law, management, economics, literature, etc., and cultivates high-quality compound applied talents with both moral and legal literacy.

学校现有法学、马克思主义理论等5个一级学科硕士点及9个专业学位硕士点，法学学科为上海市一流学科、高原学科，监狱学、社区矫正等专业全国排名领先。设有法律学院、国际法学院等14个二级学院，40余个本科专业，其中国家级一流本科专业建设点3个、国家级特色专业2个。校园坐落于佘山国家旅游度假区，占地1000余亩，被誉为“佘山北麓的花园学府”，连续两次获评“全国文明单位”。

The university currently has 5 first-level discipline master's programs including Law and Marxist Theory, and 9 professional master's degree programs. Law is a first-class discipline and plateau discipline in Shanghai, with leading national rankings in majors such as Prison Science and Community Correction. It has 14 secondary colleges including the School of Law and the School of International Law, offering over 40 undergraduate majors, including 3 national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites and 2 national-level characteristic majors. Located in the Sheshan National Tourist Resort, the campus covers an area of more than 1,000 mu, known as "the garden university at the northern foot of Sheshan", and has been awarded the "National Civilized Unit" twice consecutively.
