South Ural State University (ЮУрГУ in Russian abbreviation) was founded in 1943 and is a federal public comprehensive research university located in Chelyabinsk, Russia. As an important higher education and scientific research center in the Ural region, the university currently has 56,000 students (including 2,000 international students) and more than 5,000 faculty members, including over 270 professors, 800 associate professors, more than 340 postdoctoral fellows, 1,300 doctors, and over 150 academicians and corresponding members of Russian and international academies of sciences.

The university has 14 campuses, 10 colleges and affiliated middle schools, 89 teaching and research sections, and 13 research institutions, as well as a distance education college and a vocational training college. It offers a complete talent training system from undergraduate to doctoral level, with 264 undergraduate programs, 150 master's programs, 25 specialist programs, and 94 doctoral training directions. It has outstanding advantages in fields such as mechanical manufacturing, physical metallurgy, aerospace, architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, and supercomputer technology. The university actively carries out international cooperation, maintains educational exchanges with 48 countries, has 140 international partners, and has established cooperative relations with more than 3,200 enterprises.
