宿迁学院坐落于享有“第一江山春好处”美誉的宿迁市，作为江苏省高等教育体制创新的产物，学校在省市政府推动下，从2002年起与苏州大学、扬州大学、江苏大学、南京工业大学、江苏师范大学、南京财经大学、南京工程学院、南京师范大学等八所省属高校合作举办本科教育。2014年，学校经教育部批准为独立设置的民办普通本科院校；2020年转制为省属公办本科高校，2023年顺利通过教育部本科教学工作合格评估。

Suqian University is located in Suqian City, known as "the best place for spring in the first river and mountain". As a product of the innovation of higher education system in Jiangsu Province, under the promotion of the provincial and municipal governments, the university has cooperated with eight provincial universities including Soochow University, Yangzhou University, Jiangsu University, Nanjing Tech University, Jiangsu Normal University, Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, Nanjing Institute of Technology, and Nanjing Normal University to offer undergraduate education since 2002. In 2014, the university was approved by the Ministry of Education as an independent private regular undergraduate college; in 2020, it was transformed into a provincial public undergraduate university, and successfully passed the qualification assessment of undergraduate teaching by the Ministry of Education in 2023.

学校现有工学、文学、理学、艺术学、教育学、管理学、经济学、法学、农学等九大学科门类，设有11个二级学院、54个本科专业，全日制在校生1.7万余人。现有专任教师1000余人，4个省重点学科、16个省一流专业，荣获中国国际大学生创新大赛国赛银奖、“挑战杯”全国大学生课外学术科技作品竞赛国赛一等奖等多项荣誉，近三年获批国家级科研项目20项，授权国家发明专利185项。

The university now has nine disciplines including engineering, literature, science, art, education, management, economics, law, and agriculture, with 11 secondary colleges and 54 undergraduate majors, and more than 17,000 full-time students. There are more than 1,000 full-time teachers, 4 provincial key disciplines, and 16 provincial first-class majors. It has won many honors such as the silver award in the National College Student Innovation Competition and the first prize in the "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition. In the past three years, it has obtained 20 national-level scientific research projects and 185 authorized national invention patents.
