嵩山少林武术职业学院是2004年经河南省人民政府批准、国家教育部备案成立的民办普通高校，由中国武术九段、中国民间文化杰出传承人刘宝山先生创办。学院是国内武术文化特色颇为突出的普通高校，是国家汉语国际推广少林武术基地、中国人民解放军特种作战人才培养与输送基地、河南省首批中华优秀传统文化传承基地等。

Songshan Shaolin Wushu Vocational College is a private general college approved by the People's Government of Henan Province and registered with the Ministry of Education in 2004. It was founded by Mr. Liu Baoshan, a ninth-dan Chinese martial artist and an outstanding inheritor of Chinese folk culture. The college is a general college with prominent martial arts culture characteristics in China, and it is the National Base for International Promotion of Chinese Language and Shaolin Wushu, the Training and Transportation Base for Special Operations Talents of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and one of the first batch of inheritance bases for excellent traditional Chinese culture in Henan Province, etc.

学院现有在校生14189人，其中全日制专科在校生8320人，中职生5869人，本科生892人。占地总面积123.15万平方米，校舍建筑总面积31.38万平方米，馆藏纸质图书70.95万册，电子图书16.41万册。学院拥有一支结构合理、素质优良的师资队伍，现有专任教师880人，其中具有硕士及以上学位教师280人，占专任教师总数的31.8%。

The college currently has 14,189 students, including 8,320 full-time junior college students, 5,869 secondary vocational students, and 892 undergraduate students. It covers a total area of 1.2315 million square meters, with a total building area of 313,800 square meters. The library has 709,500 paper books and 164,100 e-books. The college has a well-structured and high-quality teaching staff, with 880 full-time teachers, among whom 280 have master's degrees or above, accounting for 31.8% of the total full-time teachers.

学院坚持职业教育类型定位，牢牢把握职业教育的重要使命，不断提升服务国家战略和区域经济社会发展的能力。学院主动对接体育强国、人才强军等重大国家战略发展需求，坚持武术为根、文化为魂、育人为本的办学理念，以武术教育事业、武术文化产业、健康服务行业、国防与安全领域为四个发展服务方向，为社会培养高层次、高水平、复合型技术技能人才。

The college adheres to the orientation of vocational education, firmly grasps the important mission of vocational education, and continuously improves its ability to serve national strategies and regional economic and social development. The college actively responds to the development needs of major national strategies such as building a strong sports country and strengthening the military with talents. It adheres to the school-running philosophy of taking martial arts as the foundation, culture as the soul, and educating people as the fundamental. It takes martial arts education, martial arts culture industry, health service industry, and national defense and security as the four development service directions to cultivate high-level, high-quality, and compound technical and skilled talents for the society.

学院以武术为特色，以汉语国际推广少林武术基地为依托，积极开展丰富多彩的对外文化交流活动。截至目前，学院已经成功承办了21届国际学生汉语武术夏令营（秋、冬令营），接待了80余批国（境）外校长团（代表团）来校交流学习；先后向美国、泰国等45个国家外派汉语及武术教师650人次；学院武林汉韵巡演团先后随国家领导到美国、俄罗斯等20个国家和地区进行文化交流巡演100多场，受众达数百万人。

With martial arts as its characteristic and relying on the International Promotion Base for Chinese Language and Shaolin Wushu, the college actively carries out various foreign cultural exchange activities. Up to now, the college has successfully hosted 21 sessions of International Students' Chinese and Wushu Summer Camps (Autumn and Winter Camps), and received more than 80 groups of foreign (overseas) school principals' delegations for exchange and study. It has sent 650 Chinese and martial arts teachers to 45 countries such as the United States and Thailand. The college's Wulin Hanyun Tour Troupe has accompanied national leaders to conduct more than 100 cultural exchange tours in 20 countries and regions including the United States and Russia, with an audience of millions.
