西南医科大学是四川省省属普通高等院校，坐落于川渝滇黔结合区域的国家历史文化名城、全国卫生城市、全国文明城市——泸州。学校前身西南区川南医士学校始建于1951年，历经泸州医学专科学校、泸州医学院等发展阶段，2015年更名为西南医科大学，2021年获批博士学位授予单位，临床医学获批博士学位授权点。

Southwest Medical University is a provincial public higher education institution in Sichuan Province, located in Luzhou, a national historical and cultural city, national health city, and national civilized city in the junction area of Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, and Guizhou. Founded in 1951 as the Southwest Sichuan Medical School, it has evolved through stages such as Luzhou Medical College, was renamed Southwest Medical University in 2015, and became a doctoral degree-granting unit in 2021 with a doctoral program in Clinical Medicine.

学校秉承“厚德精业、仁爱济世”的校训和“自强不息、守正出新”的精神，形成了“德业双修、中西医并重”的办学特色。现有忠山、城北两个校区，占地2011亩，设20个院（系），在校本科生、研究生、留学生等2.5万余人。临床医学、药理学与毒理学等7个学科进入ESI全球排名前1%，拥有省部级及以上科技创新平台46个，是川渝滇黔结合区域医药卫生人才培养和科技创新的重要基地。

Adhering to the motto "Virtue and Excellence, Benevolence and Salvation" and the spirit of "Self-improvement, Upholding Integrity and Innovation", the university has formed the educational characteristic of "Dual Cultivation of Morality and Profession, Equal Emphasis on Chinese and Western Medicine". It has two campuses (Zhongshan and Chengbei) covering 2011 mu, 20 colleges/departments, and over 25,000 students including undergraduates, postgraduates, and international students. Seven disciplines including Clinical Medicine and Pharmacology & Toxicology rank in the top 1% of ESI globally. With 46 provincial-level and above scientific and technological innovation platforms, it serves as a key base for medical talent cultivation and scientific innovation in the Sichuan-Chongqing-Yunnan-Guizhou border region.
