西南科技大学坐落于中国科技城——四川省绵阳市，是四川省人民政府与教育部共建高校，四川省人民政府与国家国防科技工业局共建高校，被教育部确定为国家重点建设的西部14所高校之一。学校肇始于1952年创办的重庆建筑工程学校，后历经西南建筑工程学院、四川建筑材料工业学院等发展阶段，2000年更名为西南科技大学。

Southwest University of Science and Technology is located in Mianyang, the Science and Technology City of China. It is a university jointly built by the People's Government of Sichuan Province and the Ministry of Education, as well as by the People's Government of Sichuan Province and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. It is identified by the Ministry of Education as one of the 14 key universities in western China.

学校现有在校研究生、本专科学生及留学生3.9万余人，设有国防科技学院等16个学院，开设83个本科专业，涵盖工学、理学、经济学、管理学、文学、法学、农学、艺术学等8大学科门类。拥有一级学科博士学位授权点5个、一级学科硕士学位授权点24个、硕士专业学位类别15个。

The university currently has over 39,000 students, including postgraduates, undergraduates, and international students. It has 16 colleges such as the School of National Defense Science and Technology, offering 83 undergraduate majors covering 8 disciplines including engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, agriculture, and art. It has 5 first-level discipline doctoral programs, 24 first-level discipline master programs, and 15 professional master degree categories.
