山西大同大学坐落于历史文化名城大同，是一所山西省属多科性大学，由原雁北师范学院、大同医学专科学校、大同职业技术学院和山西工业职业技术学院合并组建而成，于2006年正式成立。学校秉持“厚德、博学、慎思、笃行”的校训，致力于培养应用型、复合型人才，服务地方经济社会发展。

Shanxi Datong University is located in Datong, a famous historical and cultural city. It is a provincial comprehensive university in Shanxi Province. It was formed by the merger of the former Yanbei Normal College, Datong Medical College, Datong Vocational and Technical College, and Shanxi Industrial Vocational and Technical College, and was formally established in 2006. Adhering to the school motto of "Houde, Boxue, Shensi, Duxing" (Virtue, Erudition, Deliberation, Practice), the university is committed to cultivating applied and interdisciplinary talents to serve local economic and social development.

学校现有御东、新平旺两个校区，总占地面积2121.3亩，建筑面积94.09万平方米。设有21个学院，涵盖文学、理学、工学、医学、农学、管理学、艺术学等九大学科门类，65个本科专业，全日制在校生3万余人，教职工2327人，其中专任教师1659人，具有高级职称的教师736人，博士、硕士学位教师1430人。

The university currently has two campuses, Yudong and Xinpingwang, covering a total area of 2,121.3 mu (about 1.41 square kilometers) with a building area of 940,900 square meters. It has 21 colleges, covering nine disciplines including literature, science, engineering, medicine, agriculture, management, and art, with 65 undergraduate majors. There are more than 30,000 full-time students and 2,327 faculty members, including 1,659 full-time teachers, 736 teachers with senior professional titles, and 1,430 teachers with doctoral or master's degrees.

学校注重学科建设与科研创新，拥有3个山西省重点建设学科，1个国家级一流本科专业建设点，14个省级一流本科专业建设点。近年来，承担国家级科研项目40余项，省部级科研项目300余项，获得省部级以上科研奖励30余项。同时，积极开展对外交流合作，与国内外多所高校建立了友好合作关系。

The university focuses on discipline construction and scientific research innovation, with 3 key construction disciplines in Shanxi Province, 1 national first-class undergraduate major construction site, and 14 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites. In recent years, it has undertaken more than 40 national-level scientific research projects and more than 300 provincial-level scientific research projects, and has won more than 30 scientific research awards above the provincial level. At the same time, it actively carries out foreign exchanges and cooperation, and has established friendly cooperative relations with many universities at home and abroad.
