山西工程职业学院是一所经省政府批准、教育部备案的全日制公办高等职业院校，由原国家示范校山西工程职业技术学院与原国家骨干校山西煤炭职业技术学院于2019年合并组建，其前身可追溯至1952年创办的冶金工业技术学校和采矿工业技术学校，是山西省最早开办的五所职业学校中的两所。2020年，原山西省煤炭职业中等专业学校和原山西省雁北煤炭工业学校并入该校。学院坚持“转型综改有所需、山西工院有所行”的发展理念，秉承“崇德尚能、励学重行”的校训，弘扬“守正、自强、融合、创新”的学校精神，是中国特色高水平高职学校和专业建设计划A档专业群立项建设单位、国家优质高等职业院校、国家示范校、国家骨干校。

Shanxi Engineering Vocational College is a full-time public higher vocational college approved by the provincial government and registered with the Ministry of Education. It was established in 2019 through the merger of the former National Demonstrative College, Shanxi Engineering Vocational and Technical College, and the former National Key College, Shanxi Coal Vocational and Technical College. Its predecessors can be traced back to the Metallurgical Industry Technical School and Mining Industry Technical School founded in 1952, two of the earliest five vocational schools in Shanxi Province. In 2020, the former Shanxi Coal Vocational Secondary School and the former Shanxi Yanbei Coal Industry School were merged into the college. Adhering to the development philosophy of "Meeting the needs of transformation and comprehensive reform, Shanxi Institute of Technology takes action" and the school motto of "Upholding morality and ability, encouraging learning and practice", the college promotes the school spirit of "Upholding integrity, self-improvement, integration, and innovation". It is an A-level professional group project construction unit of the China特色高水平高职学校 and专业建设计划, a national high-quality higher vocational college, a national demonstration school, and a national key school.

学院拥有唐槐、龙潭、许坦三个校区，总占地880亩，校舍建筑总面积40万平方米，固定资产总值7.06亿元，全日制在校生14000余人。现有教职工860人，其中专任教师722人，副高以上职称教师229人，拥有国家级职业教育创新团队2个、全国高校黄大年式教师团队1个等多个高水平教学团队及名师。学院构建了“2431”专业群体系，开设46个招生专业，其中国家示范重点专业11个，建有181个专业化校内实训室（含2个国家级重点实训基地）和300余个校外实训基地，教学仪器设备总值2.19亿元，生均仪器设备值1.3万元居山西省同类院校首位。建校70年来，已为国家培养14万余名高素质技术技能型人才，毕业生就业率常年保持在95%以上。

The college has three campuses: Tanghuai, Longtan, and Xutan, covering a total area of 880 mu, with a total building area of 400,000 square meters and a total fixed asset value of 706 million yuan. It has more than 14,000 full-time students. There are 860 faculty members, including 722 full-time teachers and 229 teachers with associate senior titles or above. It has 2 national vocational education innovation teams, 1 national university Huang Danian-style teacher team, and many other high-level teaching teams and famous teachers. The college has constructed a "2431" professional group system, offering 46 enrollment majors, including 11 national demonstration key majors. It has 181 professional on-campus training rooms (including 2 national key training bases) and more than 300 off-campus training bases. The total value of teaching instruments and equipment is 219 million yuan, with a per-student value of 13,000 yuan, ranking first among similar institutions in Shanxi Province. Over the past 70 years since its establishment, the college has cultivated more than 140,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents for the country, with the employment rate of graduates remaining above 95% for many years.
