山西林业职业技术学院是山西省唯一一所全方位培养生态建设人才的公办全日制高等职业院校，前身为创建于1952年的山西林业学校，2002年经省政府批准改制为专科层次院校。学院坐落于太原市中心城区汾河之畔，占地面积170余亩，现有6个教学系、3个教学部，开设35个专业，教职工321人，其中专任教师235人，高级职称65人，硕士学位以上199人。校内建有65个实训室，校外实训基地75个，秉承"知行合一、树木树人"的教育理念，遵循"厚德、笃学、精艺、果行"的校训，累计为社会培养4万余名优秀人才，被誉为"绿色人才的摇篮"。

Shanxi Forestry Vocational and Technical College is the only public full-time higher vocational college in Shanxi Province that comprehensively cultivates ecological construction talents. Its predecessor was Shanxi Forestry School founded in 1952, and it was restructured into a college-level institution with the approval of the provincial government in 2002. Located on the bank of Fenhe River in the central urban area of Taiyuan, the college covers an area of more than 170 mu, with 6 teaching departments, 3 teaching sections, and 35 majors. It has 321 faculty members, including 235 full-time teachers, 65 with senior professional titles, and 199 with master's degree or above. The college has 65 on-campus training rooms and 75 off-campus training bases. Adhering to the educational philosophy of "Unity of Knowledge and Action, Cultivating People through Trees" and following the school motto of "Virtue, Diligence, Expertise, and Practice", it has cultivated more than 40,000 outstanding talents for the society and is known as the "Cradle of Green Talents".

学院办学实力雄厚，1992年被评为省部级重点中专，2000年成为国家级重点中专，2007年高职高专人才培养工作水平评估获优秀，2015年确定为省级示范性高职院校，2018年成为山西省优质高等职业院校建设单位。学院紧密对接国家生态文明建设和乡村振兴战略，形成了以智慧林业、现代园艺、生态园林为特色的专业群，拥有中央财政支持重点专业2个，省部级重点、特色专业20个。近五年毕业生平均就业率超90%，200余名毕业生通过省直事业单位考试进入省林草局直属单位，专升本升学率连续多年保持在60%以上。

The college has strong educational strength. It was rated as a provincial key technical secondary school in 1992, became a national key technical secondary school in 2000, obtained excellent in the higher vocational talent training level evaluation in 2007, was identified as a provincial demonstration higher vocational college in 2015, and became a construction unit of Shanxi Provincial High-quality Higher Vocational Colleges in 2018. Closely aligned with the national ecological civilization construction and rural revitalization strategy, the college has formed professional groups featuring smart forestry, modern horticulture, and ecological gardening, with 2 key majors supported by central finance and 20 provincial key and characteristic majors. In the past five years, the average employment rate of graduates has exceeded 90%, more than 200 graduates have entered the directly affiliated units of the Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau through the provincial public institution examination, and the upgrade rate to undergraduate has remained above 60% for many years.
