山西体育职业学院于2004年4月14日经山西省人民政府批准设立，上级主管部门为山西省体育局。学院是目前山西省唯一的体育类高职院校，也是国家体育总局奥运战略重点布局的高水平体育后备人才培养基地。学院的前身是创建于1956年的山西省体育运动学校，历经多年发展，已形成涵盖本科、专科、中专等多层次的体育人才培养体系，目前在校生人数达3000多人。

Shanxi Sports Vocational College was established on April 14, 2004, with the approval of the Shanxi Provincial People's Government and is under the supervision of the Shanxi Provincial Sports Bureau. It is the only sports vocational college in Shanxi Province and a key high-level sports reserve talent training base strategically deployed by the General Administration of Sport of China for the Olympic Games. The college traces its roots to the Shanxi Sports School founded in 1956. After years of development, it has formed a multi-level sports talent training system covering undergraduate, junior college, and secondary vocational education, with over 3,000 students currently enrolled.

学院坚持“专业立校、特色兴校、人才强校”的办学思路，以培养竞技体育人才和社会体育职业人才为目标。现设有7个教学系部，开设运动训练、社会体育、休闲体育、电子竞技运动与管理等22个专科专业，其中运动训练专业是央财支持的重点专业和山西省高等学校特色专业。学院还与山西大学合作开展运动训练专业全日制本科学历教育，并承担北京体育大学山西函授站教学任务。

Adhering to the school-running philosophy of "establishing the school with majors, prospering the school with characteristics, and strengthening the school with talents", the college aims to cultivate competitive sports talents and social sports professionals. It currently has 7 teaching departments, offering 22 junior college majors such as Sports Training, Social Sports, Leisure Sports, and E-sports Sports and Management. Among them, the Sports Training major is a key major supported by the central finance and a characteristic major of colleges and universities in Shanxi Province. The college also cooperates with Shanxi University to carry out full-time undergraduate education in Sports Training and undertakes the teaching task of the Shanxi Correspondence Station of Beijing Sport University.

学院拥有一支高素质的“双师型”教师队伍，现有专任教师和教练员131人，其中高级职称44人，国际级裁判员2人，国家级裁判员9人。教学训练设施完善，建有室内训练场馆19234平方米、室外训练场59506平方米，包括标准塑胶田径场、篮球场、足球场等，为学生提供了优良的实践教学环境。建校以来，学院为国家和山西省培养了大批优秀体育人才，在国内外各类体育赛事中屡创佳绩。

The college has a high-quality "double-qualified" teaching team, with 131 full-time teachers and coaches, including 44 with senior professional titles, 2 international referees, and 9 national referees. It boasts complete teaching and training facilities, including 19,234 square meters of indoor training venues and 59,506 square meters of outdoor training grounds, such as standard塑胶track and field fields, basketball courts, and football fields, providing an excellent practical teaching environment for students. Since its establishment, the college has cultivated a large number of outstanding sports talents for the country and Shanxi Province, achieving remarkable results in various domestic and international sports events.
