陕西中医药大学的前身是1952年创建于西安的西北中医进修学校，1959年升格为陕西中医学院，1961年迁至古都咸阳，是1978年中共中央56号文件确定的全国8所重点建设的中医院校之一。2015年更名为陕西中医药大学，2021年成为陕西省人民政府、国家中医药管理局共建高校，2024年成为博士学位授予单位并入列国家优质本科高校。经过70多年的建设和发展，学校已成为一所以中医药专业为主体，中西医并重，医、理、工、文、管多学科专业相互支撑、交叉融合的医科类院校。

Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine (SXUCM) traces its roots to the Northwest Chinese Medicine Training School founded in Xi'an in 1952. It was upgraded to Shanxi College of Chinese Medicine in 1959 and relocated to the ancient capital Xianyang in 1961. It is one of the 8 key TCM colleges designated by the Central Committee Document No. 56 in 1978. Renamed to its current name in 2015, it became a joint university under the Shanxi Provincial Government and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2021, and was granted doctoral degree authorization and listed as a national high-quality undergraduate university in 2024. After over 70 years of development, SXUCM has evolved into a medical institution with TCM as its main focus, integrating Chinese and Western medicine, and supporting interdisciplinary development across medicine, science, engineering, humanities, and management.

学校现有南北两个校区，南校区位于西咸新区沣河之畔，北校区位于咸阳市秦都区渭阳中路，总面积约86万平方米。设有16个教学单位和2个医教协同共建单位，拥有2所直属附属医院、13所非直属附属医院、陕西陕中药业有限公司和陕西中医药博物馆。现有全日制在校生17069人，其中本科生14080人，硕士、博士研究生和留学生共2989人。中医学、中药学两个一级学科优势突出，临床医学、药理学与毒理学学科进入ESI全球排名前1%，形成了以中医药为核心的特色学科体系。

The university has two campuses: the South Campus located along the Fenghe River in Xixian New Area and the North Campus in Weiyang Middle Road, Qindu District, Xianyang City, covering a total area of approximately 860,000 square meters. It comprises 16 teaching units and 2 medical-educational collaborative units, with 2 directly affiliated hospitals, 13 non-directly affiliated hospitals, Shaanxi Shanzhong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and the Shanxi Chinese Medicine Museum. The university has 17,069 full-time students, including 14,080 undergraduates and 2,989 postgraduates (master's, doctoral) and international students. With strong strengths in the first-level disciplines of Chinese Materia Medica and Chinese Medicine, and clinical medicine, pharmacology and toxicology entering the top 1% of ESI global rankings, it has formed a distinctive disciplinary system centered on traditional Chinese medicine.
