山西中医药大学是山西省人民政府与国家中医药管理局共建高校，前身为1978年创办的山西医学院中医大学班，1989年经原国家教委批准成立山西中医学院，2017年5月更名为山西中医药大学，2024年获批博士学位授予单位。学校主校区位于晋中市，另设太原校区，总占地面积约1091亩，是教育部首批卓越医生（中医）教育培养计划改革试点高校、山西省重点建设高校。

Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine is a university jointly built by the People's Government of Shanxi Province and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Its predecessor was the Chinese Medicine Class of Shanxi Medical College founded in 1978. It was approved by the former State Education Commission to establish Shanxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1989, renamed Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine in May 2017, and approved as a doctoral degree-granting unit in 2024. The main campus is located in Jinzhong City with an additional campus in Taiyuan, covering a total area of approximately 1091 mu. It is one of the first pilot universities for the reform of the Excellent Doctor (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Education and Training Program of the Ministry of Education and a key construction university in Shanxi Province.

学校以中医药学科为主体，设有15个二级教学机构，23个本科专业，涵盖医、工、管、理等学科门类。拥有中医学、中西医结合、中药学3个一级学科学术学位硕士授权点，中医、中药学、护理3个专业学位硕士授权点，2024年新增博士学位授权点。现有全日制在校生12055人，其中本科生10324人、研究生1393人，教职医护员工5286人，其中国医大师2人、全国名中医3人、国家级教学名师1人。

With traditional Chinese medicine disciplines as the main body, the university has 15 secondary teaching institutions and 23 undergraduate majors, covering medicine, engineering, management, science and other disciplines. It has 3 first-level discipline academic master's degree authorization points in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Integrative Medicine, and Chinese Materia Medica, 3 professional master's degree authorization points in Chinese Medicine, Chinese Materia Medica, and Nursing, and新增博士学位授权点 in 2024. Currently, there are 12,055 full-time students, including 10,324 undergraduates and 1,393 postgraduates, and 5,286 faculty and medical staff, including 2 National Medical Masters, 3 National Famous Chinese Medicine Practitioners, and 1 National Teaching Master.

学校注重产学研医结合，拥有5所直属附属医院、47个临床实践教学基地，是国家中药现代化科技产业（山西）基地、国家中医药科技合作基地。晋中校区建有中医药文化浮雕、神农药谷等景观，为全国中医药文化宣传教育基地，形成了“艰且益坚、持重笃行”的校风，致力于培养中医药传承创新人才。

The university focuses on the integration of production, education, research and medical care, with 5 directly affiliated hospitals and 47 clinical practice teaching bases. It is a national modern Chinese medicine science and technology industry (Shanxi) base and a national traditional Chinese medicine science and technology cooperation base. The Jinzhong campus has built cultural landscapes such as traditional Chinese medicine cultural reliefs and Shennong Medicine Valley, serving as a national traditional Chinese medicine culture publicity and education base. It has formed a school spirit of "perseverance in hardship and steadiness in action" and is committed to cultivating innovative talents in the inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine.
