Suzhou Institute of Technology is located in Changshu, Suzhou, a national historical and cultural city and international garden city with a rich cultural heritage and beautiful scenery. It is a public full-time ordinary undergraduate university co-built by the province and the city. The predecessor of the school was Suzhou Normal College founded in 1958. After several mergers and upgrades, it was renamed Suzhou Institute of Technology with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2025. Featuring engineering, the university covers multiple disciplines including science, liberal arts, economics, management, education, and art. It is a pilot university for the national education system reform project and the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education, with 3 disciplines ranking among the top 1% in ESI globally.

The university has two campuses, Donghu and Southeast, covering an area of over 1,800 mu with a building area of more than 600,000 square meters. It has 14 secondary colleges (departments), 51 undergraduate majors, and 3 professional master's degree authorization points. The university boasts over 300 provincial-level and above talents, including foreign academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and recipients of national talent projects.
