Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is one of the oldest and most renowned institutions of higher education in Ukraine. Founded in 1834 and named after the famous Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko, it is located in the central area of Kyiv, the capital city. As a top comprehensive research university in Ukraine, it serves as a core center for modern education, scientific research, and culture in the country, boasting profound academic heritage and international influence in various fields such as natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences.

The university currently comprises 17 departments, 4 colleges, and multiple research institutes, offering 158 programs covering a wide range of fields including biology, chemistry, geography, geology, economics, history, law, mathematics, physics, international relations, and journalism. According to recent data, it has approximately 26,000 students and over 2,200 faculty members, including 321 professors and more than 1,000 associate professors, forming a strong teaching team. Furthermore, the university values international exchanges, having established friendly cooperative relationships with 52 universities in 32 countries worldwide. It admits a large number of international students annually and operates a preparatory department for foreign students, providing intensive language training (in Ukrainian, Russian, or English) and basic course instruction.
