塔里木大学创办于1958年，是国务院学位委员会批准的首批具有学士学位授予权的本科院校，2003年获得硕士学位授予权，2004年5月经教育部批准更名为塔里木大学，2018年获批博士学位授予单位。学校是新疆生产建设兵团所属的综合性大学，位于新疆阿拉尔市，占地面积2613亩，校舍建筑面积63万平方米。

Tarim University was founded in 1958. It is one of the first undergraduate colleges authorized by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council to confer bachelor's degrees. In 2003, it obtained the right to confer master's degrees. In May 2004, it was renamed Tarim University with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2018, it was approved as a doctoral degree-granting unit. The university is a comprehensive university affiliated to the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, located in阿拉尔 City, Xinjiang, covering an area of 2,613 mu with a building area of 630,000 square meters.

学校始终坚持“立足南疆、服务兵团、面向新疆、辐射中亚”的办学定位，形成了“艰苦创业、民族团结、求真务实、励志图强”的校风和“厚德、博学、笃行、立人”的校训。现有16个学院，58个本科专业，1个一级学科博士学位授权点，13个一级学科硕士学位授权点，14个专业学位硕士授权点，涵盖农、理、工、文、经、管、法、教育、艺术等9大学科门类。

The university has always adhered to the school-running orientation of "based in southern Xinjiang, serving the Corps, facing Xinjiang, and radiating Central Asia", forming a school spirit of "hard work, national unity, seeking truth and being pragmatic, and striving for self-improvement" and a school motto of "Houde, Boxue, Duxing, and Liren". There are 16 colleges, 58 undergraduate majors, 1 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization point, 13 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, and 14 professional degree master's authorization points, covering 9 disciplines including agriculture, science, engineering, literature, economics, management, law, education, and art.

学校现有教职工1500余人，其中专任教师1100余人，具有高级职称教师500余人，具有博士、硕士学位教师占专任教师总数的90%以上。拥有国家级教学团队2个，国家级教学名师1人，全国模范教师1人，全国优秀教师3人，享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家26人，教育部新世纪优秀人才支持计划人选3人，自治区级教学名师、教学能手等各类人才100余人。

The university currently has more than 1,500 faculty members, including more than 1,100 full-time teachers, more than 500 teachers with senior professional titles, and more than 90% of full-time teachers have doctoral or master's degrees. It has 2 national teaching teams, 1 national teaching master, 1 national model teacher, 3 national excellent teachers, 26 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, 3 candidates for the Ministry of Education's New Century Excellent Talents Support Program, and more than 100 various talents such as autonomous region-level teaching masters and teaching experts.

学校坚持以人才培养为中心，不断深化教育教学改革，着力培养“下得去、留得住、用得上、干得好”的应用型人才。近年来，学生在全国大学生“挑战杯”、数学建模、机器人、创新创业等竞赛中屡获佳绩。毕业生就业率连续多年保持在90%以上，为新疆特别是南疆地区的经济社会发展作出了重要贡献，被誉为“南疆高等教育的明珠”。

The university adheres to talent training as the center, continuously deepens education and teaching reform, and strives to cultivate applied talents who "can go down, stay, be useful, and do well". In recent years, students have achieved good results in national college students' "Challenge Cup", mathematical modeling, robotics, innovation and entrepreneurship competitions. The employment rate of graduates has remained above 90% for many years, making important contributions to the economic and social development of Xinjiang, especially southern Xinjiang, and is known as "the pearl of higher education in southern Xinjiang".
