西藏农牧大学坐落在素有“西藏江南”之称的西藏林芝市，是新中国在雪域高原创办的第一所集农工理管学科于一体、行业特色鲜明的高等农业院校，是社会主义新西藏现代高等教育的起点之一。学校办学历史可追溯到1958年在陕西创建的西藏公学，历经西藏民族学院、西藏民族学院林芝分院等发展阶段，1978年命名为西藏农牧学院，2001年与西藏大学合并，2016年恢复独立办学，2025年6月更名为西藏农牧大学。

Tibet Agricultural and Animal Husbandry University is located in Nyingchi City, Tibet, known as the "Jiangnan of Tibet". It is the first higher agricultural college founded in the snowy plateau of New China, integrating agriculture, engineering, science and management disciplines with distinct industry characteristics, and one of the starting points of modern higher education in socialist New Tibet. The university's history can be traced back to the Tibet Public School founded in Shaanxi in 1958, going through development stages such as Tibet Nationalities College and Nyingchi Branch of Tibet Nationalities College. It was named Tibet Agricultural and Animal Husbandry College in 1978, merged with Tibet University in 2001, resumed independent operation in 2016, and renamed Tibet Agricultural and Animal Husbandry University in June 2025.

学校占地面积1292亩，固定资产8.53亿元，馆藏纸质图书73.2万册、电子图书147万种。设有9个教学科研单位，36个本科专业，涵盖农、牧、林、水、电、生态等领域，拥有1个林学一级学科博士学位授权点，8个一级学科硕士学位授权点和7个专业硕士学位授权点。现有全日制在校生8333人，教职工584人，其中国务院政府特殊津贴专家8人、国家万人计划科技创新领军人才1人。

The university covers an area of 1292 mu, with fixed assets of 853 million yuan, 732,000 paper books and 1.47 million e-books in its collection. It has 9 teaching and research units, 36 undergraduate majors covering agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, water conservancy, electricity, ecology and other fields. It boasts 1 first-level discipline doctoral program in Forestry, 8 first-level discipline master programs and 7 professional master programs. Currently, there are 8333 full-time students and 584 faculty members, including 8 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council and 1 leading talent in scientific and technological innovation under the National Ten-Thousand Talents Program.

学校坚持“立足高原、服务西藏”办学定位，建有14个省部级以上重点实验室及平台，近五年获国家级、省部级立项课题552项，在青稞、牦牛、藏猪等特色农产品研究领域成果显著，深度参与西藏乡村振兴和高原生态保护，为区域经济社会发展培养了大批“靠得住、下得去、用得上、干得好”的专业人才。

Adhering to the school-running orientation of "Based on the Plateau, Serving Tibet", the university has built 14 key laboratories and platforms at or above the provincial and ministerial level. In the past five years, it has obtained 552 national and provincial-level projects, achieving remarkable results in the research of characteristic agricultural products such as highland barley, yaks and Tibetan pigs. It deeply participates in rural revitalization and plateau ecological protection in Tibet, and has cultivated a large number of professional talents who are "reliable, down-to-earth, useful and capable" for regional economic and social development.
