It is a key university in Tianjin. Founded in 1979, the university was formerly known as Tianjin Institute of Technology and was renamed to its current name in 2004. 学校现有主校区和王顶堤校区，总占地面积159.42万平方米，建筑面积76.96万平方米。设有17个专业学院，69个本科专业，拥有一级学科博士学位授权点3个，一级学科硕士学位授权点22个，专业硕士学位授权类别11个。学校师资力量雄厚，现有教职工2000余人，其中专任教师1400余人，具有博士学位教师占比超过60%。

It has 17 professional colleges and 69 undergraduate majors. It has 3 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 22 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, and 11 professional master's degree authorization categories. The university has a strong faculty, with more than 2,000 faculty members, including more than 1,400 full-time teachers, and over 60% of the teachers have doctoral degrees.
