天津中德应用技术大学是国内第一所应用技术大学，隶属于天津市人民政府管理，由天津市工业和信息化局举办，接受天津市教育委员会业务指导。学校始于我国与德国、日本、西班牙三国政府在职业教育领域最大的合作项目，由原天津中德现代工业技术培训中心、原天津企业管理培训中心合并组建而成。1985年建校即开始企业员工培训；2001年改制为天津中德职业技术学院；2015年升格为天津中德应用技术大学；2017年被纳入天津市双一流大学建设体系；2021年获批硕士学位授予单位。

Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Sciences is the first applied technology university in China, administered by the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, sponsored by the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, and under the professional guidance of the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission. The university originated from the largest vocational education cooperation project between the Chinese government and the governments of Germany, Japan, and Spain. It was formed by the merger of the former Tianjin Sino-German Modern Industrial Technology Training Center and the former Tianjin Enterprise Management Training Center. Established in 1985, it began providing enterprise employee training; restructured into Tianjin Sino-German Vocational and Technical College in 2001; upgraded to Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Sciences in November 2015; included in Tianjin's Double First-Class University Construction System in 2017; and approved as a master's degree-granting unit in 2021.

学校秉承“崇实求精致良知”的校训精神，坚持聚焦工业发展需求，致力于培养政治过硬、技能精湛、诚实守信、理性平和的高级技师、一线工程师、大国工匠，形成了以工匠精神为传承、以实践能力为核心、以产教融合为路径的办学特色。学校占地725.4亩，建筑面积35.95万平方米。建有校内实验实训室88个，教学科研仪器设备总值5亿余元人民币；拥有省部级科研平台4个、省部级科普基地3个、校内专门研究机构2个、与企业共建校内技术创新中心及联合重点实验室等科研平台15个。

Adhering to the school motto of "Pursuing Practicality and Excellence to Cultivate Conscience", the university focuses on meeting industrial development needs and is committed to cultivating senior technicians, frontline engineers, and craftsmen of great powers with strong political integrity, exquisite skills, honesty, and rationality. It has formed a school-running characteristic featuring the inheritance of craftsmanship spirit, taking practical ability as the core, and relying on industry-education integration as the path. The university covers an area of 725.4 mu (about 483,600 square meters) with a building area of 359,500 square meters. It has 88 on-campus laboratories and training rooms, with teaching and research equipment valued at over 500 million yuan. It also boasts 4 provincial-level scientific research platforms, 3 provincial-level science popularization bases, 2 on-campus specialized research institutions, and 15 research platforms such as on-campus technology innovation centers and joint key laboratories co-built with enterprises.

学校现有先进制造技术、自动化技术等9大专业组群，建有高端装备智能制造技术天津市高校服务产业特色学科群。设置专业学位硕士授权点2个、本科专业24个、高职专业6个，形成以工为主，工、管、艺协调发展的学科专业布局。现有全日制在校生12086名，其中：本科生9627名、高职生2343名、硕士研究生86名、留学生30名。累计培养本科毕业生10766名；社会培训规模近三年累计6万余人次。

The university currently has 9 major professional groups including advanced manufacturing technology and automation technology, and has built a Tianjin municipal university characteristic discipline group for serving industries in high-end equipment intelligent manufacturing technology. It offers 2 professional master's degree authorization points, 24 undergraduate majors, and 6 higher vocational majors, forming a discipline and professional layout dominated by engineering and coordinated development of engineering, management, and arts. There are 12,086 full-time students, including 9,627 undergraduates, 2,343 vocational college students, 86 master's students, and 30 international students. It has cumulatively trained 10,766 undergraduate graduates and provided social training to over 60,000 person-times in the past three years.

学校现有教职员工805名，其中：正高级职称71人、副高级职称278人；博士学位161人，硕士学位516人；具有海外经历231人、企业工作经历316人。有外籍专家10人，特聘教授10人、客座教授68人。入选全国高校黄大年式教师团队1个、省部级教学团队7个；省部级以上教学名师、天津市创新人才推进计划中青年科技创新领军人才等高层次人才22名。

The university has 805 faculty members, including 71 with senior professional titles, 278 with associate senior professional titles, 161 with doctoral degrees, and 516 with master's degrees. Among them, 231 have overseas experience and 316 have enterprise work experience. There are 10 foreign experts, 10 distinguished professors, and 68 visiting professors. It has 1 national-level Huang Danian-style teacher team, 7 provincial-level teaching teams, and 22 high-level talents such as provincial-level teaching masters and young and middle-aged scientific and technological innovation leaders under Tianjin's Innovative Talents Promotion Plan.
