Universidad Central del Ecuador (UCE) is the oldest public higher education institution in Ecuador, founded in 1826 and located in the capital city of Quito. As the first higher education establishment in the country, it comprises 13 faculties offering over 70 undergraduate programs and more than 50 graduate programs spanning natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, medicine, engineering, and other fields. Renowned for its outstanding faculty and research achievements in arts and humanities, UCE is the only university listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. It is particularly known for nurturing talents in sociology, psychology, law, medicine, and engineering, with approximately 30,000 students and over 2,000 faculty members, standing as one of Ecuador's most influential academic institutions.

Its main campus is situated in the northern-central university district of Quito, with a branch campus in the Galápagos Islands.
