The University of Chile (Universidad de Chile), located in Santiago, the capital of Chile, is one of the oldest universities in the Americas and the most prestigious in Latin America. Tracing its roots back to 1622 and formally established in 1842, it is a member of international university alliances such as the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, International Forum of Public Universities, and Universitas 21.

The university comprises 14 faculties with over 3,000 faculty members and 30,000 students, offering programs in humanities, science and engineering, medicine, law, economics, and other fields. It provides 50 undergraduate programs, 49 associate doctoral programs, and 13 doctoral programs. Notable alumni include 19 Chilean presidents and Nobel laureates in Literature—Gabriela Mistral (1945) and Pablo Neruda (1971). Its faculty and alumni have collectively earned 155 national awards.
